Broad Strategies For Prevention Of HIV/AIDS
• PTT (Prevent , Test , Treat )
• What If DPTT? (Detect, Prevent, Test, Treat)
• Surveillance Type : Sentinal Surveillance
• Sentinal Site : Antenatal clinic
• Sample Size : 400
• Frequency : once in 2 Years
• Eligibility : Pregnant women ages from __ to __ attending ANC
clinic for the first time during current round.
• Blood specimen : VBS

• P24 Antigen Test : Done in Window period
• Confirmatory Test for Adults : qPCR done by Nucleic Acid
Amplification Test
• Gold Standard for DX: HIV DNA RTPCR
• Viral isolation / Viral Load Estimation : to assess
Response to treatment
Screening of HIV
• By Triple testing
-ELISA
- RAPID
- SPOT TEST
• ELISA ( Highly Sensitive ) > Triple testing
• TREATMENT
• Treat al strategy (WHO) :
• Any HIV+ve cases is started on ART irrespective of CD4 count.
REGIMENS PREFERRED:
• Adults and adolescents - 1st Regimen :
Preferred : Tenofovir 300mg + Lamivudine 300mg + Dolutegravir 50mg .
• For Children - 1st Line Regimen :
Preferred :
- Zidovudine / Abacavir + Lamivudine + Dolutegravir
Alternative :
- Abacavir + Lamivudine + Lopinavir / Ritonavir
CONTRAINDICATION
• TLD is C/I in:
- Children <10 years
- Weight <30 kg
- Known case of renal and hepatic dysfunction
• Alternative : Tenofovir + Lamivudine + Efavirenz
INDICATORS OF NACP:
• Incidence prevalence ratio:
– Number of new cases / Total number of prevalent cases
– Target < 3
• Incidence mortality ratio
– Decreased Incidence by 80%
– Decreased Mortality by 80%
