Amelia was 19 years old and still in school when she gave birth to her son James, while the father Joshua Scott Beatty was 18 years old and worked part-time at Stewarts Hot Dogs. Both parents dote on James, whose nickname is Jamey, and think he is amazing.

She became good at gymnastics and enjoyed winning and the thrill of competition. In high school, she participated in track. Now, Katey is a volleyball, weightlifting, and track coach and a PE/weightlifting teacher. She recently competed in weightlifting nationals in Salt Lake City.
