Project Nyahale Ashram Shala
Ahram Shala or a residential school is Govt. Of India initiative meant for
the ‘Adivasi’s living in the remote areas all over Maharashtra. These tribes
exist in nearly all the districts of Maharashtra for whom this school serves
as a boon. Education is made available for both, the girls and the boys
coming from these communities having classes from 1st to 12th
Standard, giving free education to over 600 students. They are provided
with free lodging and boarding facilities. All education material is also
provided free of cost to them.
However all these facilities provided to them are not up to the
mark and are at government standards which certainly lack quality. Be it
the Basic Living Conditions, Sleeping & Accommodation facilities extra
curricular activities etc.
Project Description
The Objective of this project is to improve the infrastructure facilities in
this school & parallelly carrying out different activities which will help
this children's to learn modern education like computer, character
education, sports, arts & Culture, Medical Care & Hygiene , Adult/Secular
education etc. Provide them wide exposure to different activities like
acting, group dancing, debating, craft, drawing, personality development
etc.
Project Objective
We aim to work for 8-12 months on this Project to achieve our
below targeted goals.
Our Goals
• Apart from formal Education we aim to educate these children's
in different Curricular Activities
• Infrastructure improvement for Healthy Living
RoadMap
We would like you to take you through the current
infrastructure condition at this school and our vision to
develop them for the better living of these children's there.
Current Condition
Poor Luggage, Sleeping & Study facility
Poor Luguage,Sleeping & Study facility
• Currently the Girls are accommodated in
a large dormitory which lacks basic
sleeping facilities such as bed’s &
mattress, they sleep on the hard tile
flooring with single bed sheet & thin
mattress which during the winters are
even more chilling due to which the
children suffer diseases like cold and
fever pneumonia etc. Also being
surrounded by forest area, there were
many incidents when large pythons were
found in these dormitory which also
endangers life threat to these children’s
Also they don’t even have a proper
library or study table’s for studying nor
any lockers to keep there books & other
belongings.
Poor Luggage, Sleeping & Study facility
We have planned to install Bed Bunks with good mattress & storage for
these girls which will give them a comfortable sleeping & storage facility
where also they can also study comfortably for long hours.
Poor Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
The girls have very poor and unhygienic Wash Room’s, Water, & Sanitation which have
become sordid and are in a deteriorated condition. In fact, due to being ill-maintained the
sewerage lines have become choked, making the toilets unusable. in unusable condition’s.
While sanitation is one of the most important human rights, it is shocking to see how much
it has been ignored by the authorities.
Poor Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
The situation is even more challenging for young, school-going girls who are unable to get
access to this basic necessity. Every month, girls between the ages of 12 and 18 are missing
school for 5 days every month during their menstrual cycle because there are no decent
toilet facilities in the school. Our plan is to install Bio-Toilets which are girl friendly toilets
which also cater the needs of young girls during their menstrual cycle.
Poor Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
• We also plan to install RO water plants for clean drinking water and build
infrastructure for neat & clean Drinking and washing facilities
Hygiene & Medical Facilities
• Due to Unhygienic Living Conditions & unavailability of proper medical facilities
many children here suffer from many infectious diseases and Health Problems.
We plan to have bi-weekly medical camps here.
Situation of Boys in this School
The living conditions of the boys in this school is worst than that of girls. The irls at
least have a dormitory to sleep but the boys don’t even have such dormitory they
sleep on the benches or floor in the classroom.
Situation of Boys in this School
The Barber which comes here to cut the hairs of the boys uses same blades and
razors which is used for all children's. There is no facility for them to dry there
washed cloths they use there classrooms.
Situation of Boys in this School
They don’t even have bathrooms or toilets. They bath in open area in all seasons and
defecate on open grounds.
