This document provides guidance on how to meditate on and pray using the Psalms. It recommends meditating on, memorizing, and learning the Psalms so well that they come to mind in times of need. It also suggests using a pen to underline words in the Psalms that can be used in prayers to God. The document then provides examples of Psalms and verses from Psalms that express prayers, including prayers for protection, evening prayers, and morning prayers. It encourages praying to God at all times and waiting on Him to speak. Finally, it discusses how God wants people to turn from wickedness and sin.
1. The document discusses living according to God's word and trusting in Him. It encourages talking, doing, and seeking righteousness and peace.
2. David is an example of fully trusting in God's protection, deliverance, and salvation. He praised God for being his rock, shield, tower, and savior.
3. The document contrasts the righteous who love God and live according to His ways, and those who deliberately choose evil over goodness. It encourages thanking God for His blessings.
The document discusses willpower and discipline through analyzing Psalms 101. It discusses (1) singing praise to God, (2) composing oneself with wisdom, (3) not setting wicked things before one's eyes, (4) separating from wicked people, and (5) severing and destroying wickedness from one's life and community. The overall message is about using willpower and discipline to focus on God, avoid sin, and remove wicked influences.
This document provides an overview and study of the Psalms written by King David. It discusses the themes and structure of the Psalms, noting that they were written as musical poems. It highlights that David wrote 74 of the Psalms and appointed others like Asaph and the Sons of Korah to also write Psalms. The document then examines several individual Psalms in more detail, including Psalms 2, 16, 22, 40, and 69, summarizing their content and themes of trust in God, deliverance from enemies, and praise.
David’s Deliverance from Despair
Text: Ps 143
Intro:
I. His Complaint
II. His Constraint
III. His Conquest
Conclusion: Jer 2:13-14
Servant or Slave, you have a choice.
A godly man loves the written and preached word of God for several reasons. He loves the written word by diligently reading, meditating on, delighting in, hiding in his heart, defending, preferring above all things, talking about, and conforming to it. He loves the preached word because of the efficacy and salvation it brings, as it comments on and applies the written word. A godly man's love for the word is shown by how he receives its counsels, threats, and consolations, and how he responds to its reproofs of sin in his own life.
This document discusses the importance of speaking wisely and only when directed by God. It notes that some situations call for silence, while others require speaking up for righteousness. Overall, the key lessons are:
1) Remain silent unless God opens your mouth to speak, as only He can grant true wisdom and understanding.
2) Speak up for those in need when you are able, using God's word as the source of your message.
3) Recognize that you will always have more to learn, so remain teachable even from unexpected sources. Stay focused on obeying God above all.

The document discusses suffering, discipline, and finding hope in God alone. It encourages talking to Jesus about suffering to understand His purpose. While our time on earth is brief, we should pursue eternal things and not make this world our home. Submitting to God's sovereignty with a humble spirit shows honor to Him, and hope and humility can counter fear and complaining during trials.

This document provides the text and translation of Psalms 1-11 from the Psalms Targum. The Psalms Targum is an English translation of the Aramaic targum, or interpretation, of the Book of Psalms. Each psalm is presented in the original Hebrew followed by the Aramaic translation. The psalms cover various topics from praising God to lamenting enemies and affirming God's protection and justice. The document is copyrighted and provides attribution for the translator, Edward M. Cook.
The document discusses how our lives are filled with noise and we rarely experience silence. It encourages taking time each day to be quiet, still, and listen to God through prayer and Scripture reading. Several Bible verses are provided that discuss being silent before God, listening to him, and finding rest in him alone.
This document provides an exhortation and summary of 1 Peter 5. It begins by summarizing the chapter's exhortation to elders to feed the flock willingly and not lord over them. It then summarizes the call for younger members to submit to elders and be humble. The rest discusses God's goal to exalt the humble after they suffer awhile and provides examples from Exodus of Israel's rebellion in the wilderness despite God delivering them from Egypt.

The document provides an overview of Proverbs 2 which discusses how wisdom promises godliness, safety from evil, and direction in good ways to those who receive God's words, hide His commandments, incline their ear to wisdom, and apply their heart to understanding. It then provides multiple Bible verses related to each of these concepts to further explain and support the message of Proverbs 2.
The document discusses affections and how they should be directed. It says affections should be supremely set on God and also set on following God's commandments, worshipping God, loving God's people, and pursuing heavenly things. Affections should be zealously engaged for God and Christ should have first place. Making God the object of one's affections brings blessedness. True affection for God will not grow cold like it can for the wicked, whose affections are not sincerely set on God. Carnal affections must be mortified while saints have crucified fleshly affections. False teachers try to captivate people through their affections, while the wicked have unnatural and perverted affections.
Psalm 17 is a prayer of David with three sections:
1) A personal cry for help where David pleads for God to hear his just plea and see that he has not transgressed.
2) An expectant cry for help where David asks God to show him love and keep/hide him from his enemies who surround him.
3) A place of confidence where David asks God to rise up, confront his enemies, and save him so that he can be vindicated and see God's face.
Unexpected Discord In The Flow of Psalms: part 1 - Psalms 1 though 14 Michael Scaman
Places in the Psalms where we see unexpected contrasts in the flow of Psalms. For example we might go unexpectedly from rejoicing to lamenting. Psalms 1- Psalms 14 which is the start of Psalms book 1, Psalms 1 through 41.
The Son inherits the nations in Psalm 2 is contrasted with David on the run from his son in Psalm 3.
The man in Psalm 8 ruling in a special place in creation is contrasted with the man of the earth is Psalms 9 and 10 with laments following how long will evil go on and if indeed no one is righteous, no not one, then who can climb the mountain of God and dwell in His tent?
We compare this set of Psalms with the rest of Book 1. The son inherits the earth in Psalm 2. The meek inherits the earth in Psalm 37. We see Psalm book 1 as a literary parallel to Genesis where Psalm book 1 starts with a man who is like a tree of life and ends with a man like Joseph who is betrayed to save the World.
We see some themes come back later in Psalms such as "I am a green tree" in Psalm 52 or "there is no one good no not one", Psalm 14 repeated very closely in Psalm 53
The document is Psalm 51, which is David's prayer of repentance after being confronted by Nathan for his sins with Bathsheba. In the prayer, David acknowledges his sin and asks God to cleanse him and create a clean heart within him. He recognizes that God desires truth in the inward being rather than outward sacrifices. David asks God to restore joy and not take away His Holy Spirit. He understands that God desires a broken and contrite heart over sacrifices.
To have a lethal faith in your battle against sin, you must store up Scripture deep within.

The document contains four passages from the book of Isaiah in the English Standard Version translation. It also contains summaries of those same passages from the Targum and the Isaiah Scroll found among the Dead Sea Scrolls. The passages discuss servants who will bring justice and salvation. They describe a servant who will not cry out or break the bruised reed, and who will establish justice on earth. They also describe a suffering servant who is despised and afflicted yet bears the sins of many.
This document discusses controlling our tongue and how the things we say reveal the contents of our heart. It notes that controlling our tongue is difficult but important, as our words will be judged. It provides examples of harmful speech to avoid, such as filthiness, foolishness, lying, and complaining. Instead, we should speak words that are true, noble, beneficial, and build others up. How we use our tongue reveals our character and spiritual maturity. Our words also have power to determine our destiny, so we must be careful about what we say.

Similar to my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus (20)
The document discusses how to receive eternal life as a gift from God. It says that all people have sinned and deserve death, but God offers salvation through Jesus. To receive this gift, one must: 1) believe in Jesus, 2) repent of sins, and 3) confess faith in Jesus before others. It further explains that one should also be baptized, which buries the believer with Christ into His death and raises them to walk in newness of life. Remaining faithful to Jesus is also required to receive the crown of life.
The document discusses reasons to be thankful based on Colossians 1:12-14. It provides three main reasons for thankfulness: 1) it honors God, 2) it is commanded, and 3) thanklessness can have negative consequences. It then examines the passage in more detail, noting that believers have been qualified through Christ for an inheritance with the saints, delivered from darkness and Satan's power, and transferred to God's kingdom through redemption and forgiveness of sins.
The document contains lyrics and instructions for songs of praise to God. It discusses how singing is a commanded form of worship in the Bible and should be done from the heart. The document encourages believers to praise God through singing and make it a priority, as believers have been redeemed and have reason to sing about God's salvation and works. Songs included discuss praising God for his strength, salvation, and for redeeming believers through Jesus' blood.
The document discusses the problem of hypocrisy. It defines hypocrisy as acting for appearance's sake rather than sincerely, doing things one condemns in others, and ignoring one's own faults. It gives examples from the New Testament of how the Pharisees and scribes acted hypocritically for show. It also discusses how hypocrisy can cause others to stumble, is a sign of apostasy, and if left unchecked can lead one to abandon their faith altogether.
1) Paul says he is a servant of Christ and steward of God's mysteries, and that as a steward he must be found faithful.
2) Though he has done much wrong in the past persecuting the church, he now lives with a clear conscience before God and does not judge himself.
3) Only God can truly judge him for how faithful he has been.
A prophet from Judah prophesied against an altar at Bethel, saying that a man named Josiah would sacrifice priests there. King Jeroboam invited the prophet to his house, but he refused, saying he was commanded not to. An old prophet lied to the prophet, saying an angel told him to bring the prophet back with him. The prophet went with the old prophet and was killed by a lion as prophesied, for disobeying God's command. This story teaches that we must obey God rather than men, and we will all give an account of ourselves to God.
This document contains passages from the Bible about how followers of Christ should treat their enemies. It discusses Jesus' teachings that his disciples should love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them. The document emphasizes that Christians should not seek revenge but instead overcome evil with good. It encourages readers to not just love those who love them but to have love and kindness for all people.
This document discusses the concept of waiting from a Christian perspective. It examines what waiting entails according to Scripture - it is about trusting that God is in control and will take care of every situation. True waiting involves complete trust in God and zealously serving Him as we await His return. The document uses examples from the Bible to illustrate the importance of readiness as we wait, through parables of waiting for a bridegroom, servants given talents, and serving Jesus by serving others. It concludes that if we truly trust in God's power and faithfulness, we will wait for His justice and mercy while hoping in His salvation and waiting for Jesus.
The document discusses the negative effects of covetousness, listing them as: 1) It blunts the sensitive nerve of love; 2) It blurs the picture of life; 3) It banishes the fruit of generosity; 4) It breeds the worm of discontent; 5) It burdens the spirit with sorrow; 6) It blinds one to the true meaning of life; 7) It blasts the devotee with misery. The document uses numerous Bible verses to support each of these points.
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.

Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1

my hope is built on nothing less than Jesus
1.
2. 1 I said, "I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my
mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.“ 2 I was mute with
silence, I held my peace even from good; And my sorrow was stirred up. 3
My heart was hot within me; While I was musing, the fire burned. Then I
spoke with my tongue: 4 "LORD, make me to know my end, And what is the
measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am. 5 Indeed, You have
made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You;
Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah 6 Surely every man
walks about like a shadow; Surely they busy themselves in vain; He heaps
up riches, And does not know who will gather them. Psalms 39:1-13.
3. 7 "And now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in You. 8 Deliver me from all
my transgressions; Do not make me the reproach of the foolish. 9 I was
mute, I did not open my mouth, Because it was You who did it. 10 Remove
Your plague from me; I am consumed by the blow of Your hand. 11 When with
rebukes You correct man for iniquity, You make his beauty melt away like a
moth; Surely every man is vapor. Selah 12 "Hear my prayer, O LORD, And
give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You,
A sojourner, as all my fathers were. 13 Remove Your gaze from me, that I may
regain strength, Before I go away and am no more." Psalms 39:7-13.
4. David is inviting us tonight to consider our ways and the
way we live every day.
This resolution of the psalmist to "take heed to his ways" is
a note of reminder to us.
Can we make the same resolution everyday?
Let him that thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. (1 Cor 10:12).
Mark those things which, like David, we should give special
attention to.
I will take heed to:
5. My Ways (v. 1).
I will scrutinize my motives, my habits and manners.
I will not think them right because they are my ways.
I will search out whether they are in harmony with
God's word and ways. 1 I said, "I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with
my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a
muzzle, While the wicked are before me.“
12 There is a way that
seems right to a man,
But its end is the way
of death. Proverbs
14:12
11 Teach me Your way,
O LORD, And lead me
in a smooth path,
because of my
enemies. Ps 27:11
105 Your word is a lamp
to my feet And a light
to my path. Psalms
119:105
5 Examine yourselves as to whether
you are in the faith. Test yourselves.
Do you not know yourselves, that
Jesus Christ is in you?—unless
indeed you are disqualified. 2 Cor
6. My Mouth.
"I will keep my mouth with a bridle (muzzle) while the wicked
is before me" (v. 1).
God is often judged by the ways and mouths of His people,
therefore there is need at times for the muzzle.
The man that offends not in word is a perfect man (James 3:2).
Walk in wisdom toward them that are without (Psalm 141:3).
1 I said, "I will guard my ways,
Lest I sin with my tongue; I will
restrain my mouth with a
muzzle, While the wicked are
before me.“
24 For "the name of
God is blasphemed
among the Gentiles
because of you," as it
is written. Romans
2 For we all stumble in
many things. If anyone
does not stumble in word,
he is a perfect man, able
also to bridle the whole
body. James 3:2
4 Do not incline my heart
to any evil thing, To
practice wicked works
With men who work
iniquity; And do not let me
eat of their delicacies.
7. My Heart.
"My heart was hot within me" (v. 3).
Blessed are the hot in heart where the holy fire burns.
While they ponder on the things of God, their tongues shall
speak of His praise. (Jer 20:9; Acts 17:16).
Take heed lest there be in any of you an evil heart of
unbelief, or a lukewarm heart of indifference. (Heb 3:12).
3 My heart was hot within
me; While I was musing, the
fire burned. Then I spoke
with my tongue:
“…But His word was in my
heart like a burning fire Shut
up in my bones; I was weary
of holding it back, And I
could not. Jeremiah 20:9
16 Now while Paul waited for
them at Athens, his spirit
was provoked within him
when he saw that the city
was given over to idols. Acts
12 Beware, brethren, lest
there be in any of you an
evil heart of unbelief in
departing from the living
God; Hebrews 3:12
8. My Transgressions.
"Deliver me from all my transgressions" (v. 8).
To transgress is to backslide; to fail to take heed to it is to
fall from grace, and allow sin to have dominion over us
(Romans 6:14; 6:12).
Although we may fall, we may rise again for the Lord is the
Deliverer of His people. (Mat 26:72; 1 Peter 1:4)
8 Deliver me from all my
transgressions; Do not make
me the reproach of the
foolish.
14 For sin shall not have
dominion over you, for
you are not under law
but under grace.
12 Therefore do not let
sin reign in your mortal
body, that you should
obey it in its lusts.
72 But again he denied
with an oath, "I do not
know the Man!"
Matthew 26:72
4 to an inheritance
incorruptible and undefiled
and that does not fade away,
reserved in heaven for you, 1
Peter 1:4
9. My Prayer.
"Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; hold not Your
peace at my tears" (v. 12).
Take heed to your prayers, see that they are the sincere
expression of your inmost heart, and that they are offered in
no cold and formal manner. (Heb 5:7; Luke 22:44)
They are all the better of being soaked with tears. (1 Thes 3:10)
12 "Hear my prayer, O LORD, And
give ear to my cry; Do not be silent
at my tears; For I am a stranger with
You, A sojourner, as all my fathers
were.
7 who, in the days of His flesh,
when He had offered up prayers
and supplications, with vehement
cries and tears to Him who was
able to save Him from death, and
was heard because of His godly
44 And being in agony, He
prayed more earnestly. Then
His sweat became like great
drops of blood falling down
to the ground. Luke 22:44
10 night and day praying
exceedingly that we may
see your face and perfect
what is lacking in your
faith? 1 Thessalonians 3:10
10. 1) My Ways (v. 1).
2) My Mouth.
3) My Heart.
4) My Transgressions.
5) My Prayer.
God is going to be
OUR hope until we
are willing to do the
same as David!
