This poem compares losing love to dancing. It describes dancing with a partner who first engages but then pulls away, leaving the dancer confused and dancing alone. As the relationship deteriorates further, the dancers seem "out of sync" and the writer wonders if "our music about to end." The poem uses dancing as a metaphor for the relationship falling apart despite the writer's continued efforts to "restore spirits that once soared." The overall mood is one of sadness and loss at a love that is "unrequited."
The document is a blog post by Andrea Miklasz discussing her tendency as a drummer to improvise and never play the same song or beat twice. Some key points:
- Miklasz has struggled with this issue for years as her skills improved, whether playing in a band or solo on hand drums. She finds it difficult to replicate how she has played songs in the past.
- While it doesn't seem to bother the singers in her band, the other musicians have grown frustrated that she can't recall what she played or the band's version of songs.
- Miklasz came to realize through reading a book that what she saw as a handicap is actually a skill at controlled improvisation
The document is a story about a girl named Aria who attends a violin performance by Lerato Nathans. She is captivated by his passionate playing and the way he seems to embody the music. Though she is the top violinist in her school, she realizes while watching Lerato that she has lost her passion for playing. She hopes to one day surpass Lerato's level of virtuosity and regain the passion that originally drew her to the violin.

1. Breves dies hominis” by Pérotinus
The excerpt I chose was “Breves dies hominis” by Pérotinus. This music made me feel relaxed and calm. It made me feel that way because it made me want to close my eyes and just listen to the music and forget what was going on around me. The mood of the music was meditative. It puts me in a place where I want to just sit back and relax. I could probably listen to this type of music when I am having a bad day because of how relaxing it was. The way I would move my body to this music would be slow, and effortlessly because I would be able to let the music flow through my body and follow the rhythm that goes with it. The type of facial expression I would associate with this certain type of music would be a neutral facial expression. Although I have never really listened to this type of music it was quite intriguing. Slow rhythms induce peace and serenity, while wind instruments stand out for causing a lively, lively and comforting effect. I think that the vast majority, if not to say that happens to everyone. The first time I listen to a song it reminds you of something in particular, the rest of the time the listeners remind me of the same thing. I never in people, but in things or in past situations. While listening to this I saw the images of waves crash by note in a scene of eternal paradise.

Rebecca Latham is applying for a music scholarship and discusses why music is essential in her life. She recalls a time in her music theory class when the band director asked why music is essential, and no students could answer. Music inspires and motivates her when writing poetry, and helps calm her during stressful times. She finds music in nature sounds and everyday noises. Music has been central to her life and she is devoted to the art of music. She quotes that music gives soul and meaning to the universe.
Music is a form of expression that brings peace and lifts moods. It has no boundaries and follows no rules. Nature itself creates beautiful music through sounds like birds chirping and flowing rivers. Music can be used for learning, therapy, and teaching as it impacts our emotions. The author's late best friend Daniel Wong was a music genius who composed a song called "Beautiful Smile" before passing away from brain cancer. Music holds memories and sparks emotions, telling stories and bringing life.

Music plays an important role in expressing our feelings and completing daily activities. It can help memorialize past experiences, as people with impaired memory from conditions like Alzheimer's disease are still able to recall details about familiar songs. Additionally, impactful songs with powerful lyrics are able to unite people for causes and stimulate universal humanistic feelings that can help change the world. Without music, the world would feel lonely.

4. The chords of my escape.
The feeling of a beat.
The vibration of my soul.
It sends me to my peak.
I just love how it makes me feel,
But there’s no way the feeling is real.
I can close my eyes and look up to the ceiling.
It’s the most pleasurable feeling.
The way it makes me move.
Just gracefully on my feet.
In the chords of my escape.
There are no expectations to meet.
I’m free to be myself.
I can dance, I can sing.
I can twirl around on the floor.
That’s how it’s supposed to be.
But of course, all happiness has to come to an end.
I look at the ground
I sigh and frown.
It's time to let go of my only true friend.
I lift my hand to my ear
And pull out the plastic.
I suddenly feel blank again.
But soon again, I will feel ecstatic
With the chords of my escape.
