2. The Omsk M.A. Vrubel
Museum of Fine Arts is
one of the largest
museums of Siberia. It
was opened on December
21, 1924
In the collection of the museum
there are over 22000 exhibits.
Among them visitors can see
works of local and foreign artists
dating from 11,000 BC up to our
days.
3. Museum is placed in two buildings, situated in the
historical centre of Omsk. These buildings are former
palace of General-Governor of the West Siberia and
former Town Trade building.
4. Over 30 temporary exhibitions are held annually in the
halls of the museum. In recent years most of them are
accompanied with catalogues.
5. Omsk museum tends to
gain a status of a
research institution in
its scientific activity.
Scientific staff of the museum
consists of specialists, having
vocational training. Amongst
them are two candidates of
sciences, nine post-graduate
students and competitors.
Highly qualified specialists of
first and second category work
in Restoration Division.
6. Museum conducts
multiform cultural
and educational
programme. It
includes
excursions,
lectures, work with
visitors of different
age categories and
«Theatre of
Painting» for
children.
