The object of sizing is to prepare warp yarns to withstand stress, strain, and abrasion that may cause yarn breakage during weaving. An ideal size should increase tensile strength while retaining flexibility, lay protruding fibers along the yarn surface to form a flexible film allowing bending without damage, and provide good abrasion resistance. A graph shows that a multipurpose sizing agent provides higher size pick up across all yarn counts compared to a conventional sizing.
