Simona Halep is a Romanian professional tennis player who is considered one of the greatest players in the world. Radu Deac is considered the most important cardiac surgeon in Romania over the last two decades. He performed over 10,000 open-heart surgeries and 5,000 closed-heart surgeries. Some of his accomplishments include performing Romania's first complete heart valve replacement in 1983, participating in Romania's first heart transplant in 1999, and inventing artificial heart valves that bear his name. Aurel Vlaicu was a Romanian engineer and pioneer of aviation born in 1882. He studied engineering in Budapest and Munich, obtaining his degree in 1907. In 1908, he returned to Romania where he built his first glider and began experimenting with flight. In 1909, he moved to Bucharest where he constructed his first airplane, the Vlaicu I. In 1911, he built the Vlaicu II, which he used to win several prizes at an air show in Austria in 1912, impressing spectators with his skills. Unfortunately, Vlaicu died in a plane crash in 1913 at the young age of 31, but he is considered a national hero in Romania for his accomplishments as one of the first pilots

Mamei, care mereu m-a ocrotit. Lasă-mi printre cărţi o jucărie

Şi îi urez din toată inimioara,
