The Summer crowds have yet to arrive.
A chill is still in the air as wild flowers spring to life on the
Planes of Abraham.
Montmorency Falls thunders with yesterday’s snow-melt and the
Levis ferry is again on schedule with river ice only a fading
memory.
Sugar-shack alchemists once again conger liquid gold from water.
Antique and art gallery doors open wide again, welcoming cri-
tiques and clients.
Two doors away, the scent of the deli's fresh bread spills onto
the sidewalk as the Holy Trinity Cathedral’s carillon peals crisply
in the new air.
La Maison Ursulines’ shuttered windows are flung open once
again, gathering the new light.
It’s Spring again in la Belle Ville de Quebec, la Maison Ursulines.

The Summer Season, a time of heritage, music
and art is here at last.
Away from the stage, the audience and the non-stop
excitement the stone facades soak-in the light, creat-
ing a patina that’s unique to here.
Antiques and art spill onto the narrow streets com-
peting with monuments, mimes, musicians and flower
boxes.
Tour guides gather their flock to glimpse into the Ur-
sulines Chapel just across the street while Arctic
breezes, finally harnessed whisper down rue
desJardins.
The season to stroll, bike, explore or simply soak-in la
Belle Ville de Quebec, la Maison Ursulines.

The “Summer People” have gone to where ever sum-
mer people go.
The Planes of Abraham rejoice in a permeating stillness as
blankets of color cover the foot paths.
Centuries-old facades and marble monuments become will-
ing backdrops to nature’s visual bravo.
The Old City takes its collective breath between yesterday
and tomorrow as locals enjoy the quiet side streets and
cafes in leisure again.
The Old City is always a joy, but a gem between the depar-
ture of Summer and the all-too-soon Winter Season.
Time’s meter is skewed as moments sensuously elongate
while the whole season rushes head-long.

It snowed again last night ...incredible.
It swirls around non-stop, settling into little sculptured
landmarks waiting for the plow or Spring.
Evening comes early at this high latitude where dining by
candle light is the norm, where thick stone walls retain
the day’s laughter long into the night.
The view from the Grand Level windows is an ever-
changing kaleidoscope, reflected in the chandeliers and
absorbed into the hearts of witnesses who have traveled
far.
