The incubator would provide startup businesses with funding assistance, mentoring, office space, and high-speed internet access. It would be called the Citrus County Enterprise Center. The study group proposing the incubator identified possible locations and was seeking endorsement from the EDC, not financial commitment. The EDC voted to support the incubator concept.

– Benchmarking 6 national & global regions
– Analyzing the region’s workforce & business strengths
– Reviewing 15 previous regional studies
– Obtaining input from 650 leaders/500 organizations
Final recommendations were released in 2007 with work continuing through 2011 and beyond. This is the final summary of our results.

The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service manages the Canadian Technology Accelerators (CTA) in New York, San Francisco & Silicon Valley, Boston, and Philadelphia, global clusters for technology and entrepreneurship. This initiative provides those Canadian start-ups in information and communication technology, digital and social media, gaming, clean technologies, and life sciences with access to unique resources and contacts that foster their international growth.

Canadian technology accelerator (CTA) overview 2013
The Canadian Trade Commissioner Service manages the Canadian Technology Accelerators (CTA) in New York, San Francisco & Silicon Valley, Boston, and Philadelphia, global clusters for technology and entrepreneurship. This initiative provides those Canadian start-ups in information and communication technology, digital and social media, gaming, clean technologies, and life sciences with access to unique resources and contacts that foster their international growth.
The CTAs make available free office space for three to six months where physical offices are located within existing business incubators. The CTAs help you to refine your business model, collect competitive intelligence, pursue key clients, access financing sources, and engage strategic partners.

Teeny Tiny Summits were started in 2016 as a forum to discuss scale-appropriate economic development strategies for Ontario’s smallest communities. Teeny Tiny Summits share practical examples, lessons learned and community economic development tactics. Since inception, the summits have been hosted in every region of the province and attracted over 2400 attendees both in person and virtually. Teeny Tiny Summits are offered by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs with support from the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA).
