                             MSRON NINE Returns
SAN DIEGO – Over 250 reserve and active duty Sailors from a Navy Task Group
operating within the 5th Fleet Area of Responsibility returned Feb. 22 to Naval Base
Coronado (NBC), from a seven-month deployment to the Middle East. They provided
seaward surveillance and security forces in amphibious areas and harbors, and military
significant coastal and inshore areas in the 5th Fleet AOR.

Capt. Scott Ready, Commander, Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron (MSRON)
9, addressed the crowd of over 50 families and friends who greeted the returning
Sailors at the NBC air terminal.

“Your Sailors had a fabulous deployment. They met and exceeded every expectation
we had of them, that our operational commander had of them, and our administrative
boss had of them,” said Ready. “I’m very proud to be a part of this team.”

MSRON-9 consisted of Boat Detachment ALPHA from Whidbey Island, Wash., Boat
Detachment CHARLIE from Portland, Ore. and Security Detachment DELTA from
Spokane, Wash.

Over 390 Sailors and Coast Guardsmen made up the task group, 80 of those service
members have already returned home.

“This is the best, best feeling. I’m always so proud of him [husband Chief Moshier],”
said Ombudsman and spouse, Andi Moshier. “My husband supported his people and
used his personal time to work on his Expeditionary Warfare Pin…I’m just so proud of
him, and glad to have him back.”

MSRON-9 embodies the 17th detachment of west coast based Maritime Expeditionary
Security Forces that have been deployed to the 5th Fleet AOR since 2003.

During their deployment they escorted 330 high value assets, including 4,500 wheeled
vehicles, ensuring the safe passage of these vessels through two ports totaling over $3
billion. They also protected the delivery of over 2100 containers of ammunition for the
war fighters in Iraq and Afghanistan.

MSRON-9 is part of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, a global force provider
of adaptive force packages of expeditionary capabilities to joint warfighting
commanders.
