SeekNet Technologies wanted to build a desktop application to allow users to easily compare airline fares from multiple sites. They developed SmartRover using Microsoft .NET and Visual C#, which took 15 months to build with seven developers. This was estimated to be 30% faster than using other technologies. SmartRover searches over 16 airline sites from the user's desktop and automatically updates as flight information changes.

Webinar: Top Reasons to Implement Windows Azure for your BusinessHARMAN Services
Michael McKeown, Sr. Solutions Architect at Aditi and Tommy Patterson, Senior Technical Evangelist at Microsoft share insights into “Five Reasons to Implement Windows Azure for your Business”.
In this session, you'll get all the answers about how ChatGPT and other GPT-X models can be applied to your current or future project. First, we'll put in order all the terms – OpenAI, GPT-3, ChatGPT, Codex, Dall-E, etc., and explain why Microsoft and Azure are often mentioned in this context. Then, we'll go through the main capabilities of the Azure OpenAI and respective usecases that might inspire you to either optimize your product or build a completely new one.

Online Insurance Broker Portal is the important and hence are an
integral part of the every Insurance Brokers. Today a Every Insurance Brokers
plays a vital role in Insurance, Claim and management related actions.
The project entitled “Online Insurance Broker Portal” is and effort
towards designing an information system that would provide most of the
requirements of a managing the Insurance Brokers efficiently.
The project has been designed using the Sql Server 2014 Database
Management System. Sql Server 2014 is an RDBMS, It uses the relational we
have used the concept of the relations to stored and manipulate the data of the
information system.
The main objective of the project entitled “Online Insurance Broker Portal” is
to facilitate reliable, fast and easy information of Customer, Insurance Details,
Employee Entry,Vehicle Entry with Day book on single keystroke. In this I am
trying to facilitates the Insurance Brokers services of the Management System is
fully computerized.
The main objective of my project is to reduce complexities to traditional work
and facilitate them through computerized services. The primary goal behind the
development of the “Online Insurance Broker Portal” CRM is to improve the
quality of the work in the online Insurance purchase policy .It increases the
Easiness and maintain the records of staffs and customers leads.
The secondary goals was to achieve better and efficient output in less amount of
time, and finally to increase the profits.
There is also a mechanism of quick detail of every customers with their lead
information generation and 24x7 call support. Management of Insurance
Services is main objective in this project. Everything has been automatised for
this purpose. A paperless office will be there. The software should be user
friendly, easily understandable to the user, flexible and further modification
should be possible in future.

Executing applications in the clouds offer many advantages over the traditional way of running programs. Firstly, using cloud computing allows rapid service deployment and massive savings upfront because not having to invest in infrastructure. Secondly, cloud computing model allows computing power and storage to scale up with business growth. In addition to this, it’s also easy to dynamically adjust computing power up or down. As a customer, you end up paying for the actual usage of resources. The advantages of using the Azure cloud platform relate to the fact that Microsoft has tried to minimize the changes involved in migrating applications to the cloud. Effort required from developers already familiar with Microsoft’s technologies to utilize the Azure is minimal. In addition to this, upcoming releases of Azure are going to support applications written in languages such as Python and PHP. Another advantage in Microsoft’s solution is that the services provided can be used in a very flexible fashion. Not only are Azure services available to cloud applications, but also traditional on-premises applications are free to exploit them. What’s even better, Microsoft seems to be improving in terms of interoperability. Because all of the services are accessible via industry standard protocols, it is guaranteed exploiting them doesn’t force customers to use Microsoft’s operating systems on-premises. Although there are many advantages in cloud computing, there are also disadvantages that shouldn’t be ignored. The first and most obvious disadvantage is the fact that by running applications in the cloud you have to hand over your private data. Privacy and security concerns are direct consequences of this. Secondly, although cloud computing relieves customers from the burden of infrastructure management, it also takes away the possibility to be in total control of that infrastructure. In addition to loosing control on hardware, using compute clouds also ties the customer very tightly to the cloud service provider. Data, for example, is usually stored in a proprietary format which makes porting applications to competitors’ systems hard. As customers are locked in, they are also at the mercy of that certain service provider’s future pricing strategy.

2. travel, but the SmartRover platform is generic and
applicable to many market segments.
"By using a smart client and not a browser we are
able to provide rich functionality to the consumer.
For example, while choosing a nearby airport as the
user types in characters we match possible cities
and auto-fill the dialog box. This quick response and
rich functionality cannot be provided via a browser.
The Windows Forms control for this was custom
created based on user feedback, and can be
accessed by clicking on the airplane icons on the
airport fields on SmartRover.
"Most of the computation and application logic of the
application resides on the desktop of the consumer.
The consumer’s network resources and computation
power are used to do the searches. Such
functionality would be expensive, not scalable, and
tough to provide via a browser-based server-side
application. The fact that the searches execute on
the desktop makes searching for various
permutations of nearby airports and adjacent dates
possible. This is the additional functionality made
available to the user as he shares his network and
computation resources. The application logic reaches
the desktop via smart client deployments.
"We have a subscription model that is implemented
for SmartRover. This includes a trial period and a
monthly subscription. The subscription model
requires native DLLs [dynamic-link libraries] to be
used for security. The application uses COM Interop
to talk to the native DLLs.
"We have two levels of secure update that can be
pushed down to the consumer from central
management servers," says Shrivastav. "First, as the
layout changes for any Web site, parsing logic is
updated transparently to the user. Second, as new
features are available they can be pushed down to
the user.
"Our Application Update implementation is based on
the AppUpdater component available at [Microsoft]
MSDN®. It has been modified to suit our
requirements. We combine several executables and
configuration files together in a compressed state, we
added more security features, and we enhanced the
update logic.
"Microsoft Visual C# provides a much easier and
quicker development environment than [Visual] C++
or Java. This has saved us at least 30 percent on
development time, compared to C++. In addition,
we're seeing improved stability. Now, instead of
fighting the programming language, we can focus on
trying to better design the application.
"We believe that the .NET smart client is an evolving
trend that will bring the desktop and Internet closer,
in our case in the context of searching. The smart
client architecture opens up a host of possibilities."
