Global Issues For the Finance Professional
Learning outcomes:
· The impact of the Basel Accord, in relation to financial risk management and the
financial operations and reporting by organisations.
· The role and impact of bond valuations and yields in the post-financial crisis world.
· Issues relating to the corporate valuation and initial public offerings of global companies
whose assets base involve significant intangibles (e.g. social media sites – Facebook,
Twitter and Google).
· Issues impacting global mergers and acquisition activity.
· Issues affecting the convergence and divergence of the international harmonisation of
accounting standards for financial reporting.
· Selected topical issues in sustainability including tax avoidance.

23. This MSc in Professional Accountancy course has provided
me valuable insights to evolving world issues and painted
the full picture on the impact of globalisation, how
decisions made by one country will directly/indirectly
impact one another. It enhanced my knowledge on the
motivations behind Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
practices and also the catastrophic effect of Systemic Risk
on the banking industry and economy.
I have grown intellectually and this course has honed my
research and business writing skills, changed my perception
of things and most importantly improved my critical
analysis and decision making skills.
I have learnt that keeping abreast of global news is critical
to know what is coming so that I can better prepare myself
to face any challenge it encompasses. I liked the fact that

1. ACCA Affiliate or Member*
2. International Student Pass will be issued
• Students must adhere to Singapore Immigration and Customs
Authority (ICA) regulations such as no employment allowed.
• Strictly minimum 90% of attendance.
3. Must take all the courses and workshops provided in the programme
