This document contains an experiment to determine the positions of metals M, J, Q, and copper in the electrochemical series. The voltmeter readings for pairs of these metals are recorded. Based on these readings, the metals are arranged in descending order in the electrochemical series. Iron is located between metal M and copper. The metals are then classified into groups that are more or less electropositive than iron. Diagram 1.2 shows a simple cell using copper and metal J over time. Observations are made from the diagram.
