This study examined differences in landscape style preferences between landscape architects and other professionals. Thirty-five landscape architects and thirty-eight non-landscape architects rated photographs of eight high-style and eight popular-style landscape designs on attractiveness, excitement, and restfulness scales. There were no statistically significant differences found between the groups in their overall ratings. However, landscape architects reported being more willing to go out of their way to visit the landscapes than other professionals. Previous research found differences in architectural style preferences between architects and non-architects, but this study did not find the same differences between landscape architect and non-landscape architect preferences for landscape styles.
