David Devlin is a cinematographer from Bozeman, Montana who has collaborated with Steven Spielberg on several films. As a cinematographer, he works closely with directors during filming to frame shots that capture the elements the director wants to convey to audiences. Cinematographers are responsible for lighting, camera positioning, and lens selection in order to realize the director's vision.
Writing for motion picture
This document provides guidance on storytelling for motion pictures. It discusses that motion pictures combine art, music, literature, and theater into one art form. Software Visualization - Lessons from the Motion Picture Industry.
The practice of storyboarding was developed out of the need to provide more information to the film’s director, cast and crew to better understand the narrative and how to better communicate the message and details for creation of the movie.
As storyboards supplemented the information in a movie script, other visual artifacts such as Universal Modeling Language (UML) diagrams, Swimlane diagrams and more were implemented in the software definition process.
Most of these, however, were targeted towards the technical audience such as the architects and developers.

The Impact of 3D films on the motion picture industry
