This document provides an overview of intelligent agents, including:
1) It defines agents and environments, and describes how agents perceive their environment through sensors and act through actuators. Examples of human and robotic agents are given.
2) It introduces the concept of rational agents and the PEAS framework for defining an agent's Performance measure, Environment, Actuators, and Sensors. Several examples of applying PEAS are described.
3) It describes different types of environments an agent may operate in, including fully/partially observable, deterministic/stochastic, and discrete/continuous.
