stand up for values in Tamil | Gandhian Values in Tamil where there is a
difference of ideologies between our freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh,
Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil, Sukhdev Thapar, Chandrasakar Azad,
Madanlal Thingara, Weerawanji, VVS Iyer” believed in physical courage is the
only way to fight against Britishers. and on the other side Mahatma Gandhi,
Jawaharlal Nehru, Swami Vivekananda, K Kamarajar who believed that
change can come being harmless to self and others under every condition.
Even though everyone’s goal was similar to see India free from British Rule
STAND UP FOR THE VALUES
Mahatma Gandhi has been portrayed where he was the person who
stands up for the values Moral Courage implies standing up for the values
we believe in. The following incident from the life of Mahatma Gandhi
gives a new dimension to it. The South African Press published
exaggerated and false reports on Mahatma Gandhi stating that he was
arousing Indian Public Opinion against the South African issue and arriving
with 800 free Indians. This provoked the fierce resentment among the
whites and they charged that Mahatma Gandhi intended to flood Natal
and Transvaal with unwanted and unindentured colored people.
As a result, when Mahatma Gandhi landed at Natal, the crowd
became violent and threw stones, bricks, and eggs at him. Then
they came closer, seized his turban, beat him and kicked him.
Gandhi fainted due to the injuries but caught hold of the iron
railings of a house. White men continued to smack his face and
strike his body. Fortunately, at this junctures, Mrs. Alexander, the
wife of the Police Superintendent, who knew Mahatma Gandhi
happened to pass by the way. She intervened and placed herself
between the maddened mob and the miserable Gandhiji. News of
the assault on Gandhiji disturbed London.
The British Secretary of State Colonies cabled the Natal
Authorities to persecute the attackers. Gandhi knows
several of his assailants but refused to disclose their
names. He said that it was not their fault; the blame
rested on the community leaders and on the Natal
Government. Gandhiji told the Attorney General that it
was a religious decision for him and he would exercise
self-restraint.
GANDHIAN VALUES
Moral Courage implies in standing up for the values we believe in. This
incident from Gandhiji’s life throws light on understanding it. One day
when Gandhiji was boarding a train hurriedly one of his shoes slipped off
and fell on the track. As the train started moving away from the platform,
there was no chance for Gandhiji to pick up the fallen shoe from the
railway tracks.
To the amazement of his companions, Gandhiji calmly took off his other
shoe and threw it back along the track to land close to the first shoe.
Asked by a fellow passenger why he did that, Gandhi replied, “The poor
man who finds the shoe lying on the track will now have a pair he can
use”.
CONCLUSION:
This demonstrates that moral courage is a standing up
for the values we believe in.
