The devastating earthquake in Haiti left thousands homeless without clean water or basic necessities. Bodies were stacked in the streets as buildings collapsed everywhere. Rescue efforts were underway but inadequate as many Haitians searched through rubble by hand hoping to find survivors. Death was all around with bodies of children and adults lining the streets in rows as flies began to gather. The scale of need was immense as people desperately searched for food, water, and help lacking even basic necessities while living among the widespread death and rubble.

Adriana(CNN reporter):Good morning!I know that you were in Haiti during the
earthquake.Can you tell us how was it?
Me:Of course I can.The devastating earthquake in Haiti has thousands of people left
homeless, without clean water or the basic necessities
Haitians stack bodies along the devastated streets of their capital after the strongest
earthquake in more than a century hit the Caribbean nation. Many more people are still
trapped in rubble.
There are lots of people in the streets trying to find relief. There is rubble everywhere.
Buildings collapsed like a house of cards. You can see many people trying to find people
in the rubble, underneath the buildings. There are many search and rescue teams coming
in, but it's not enough. The people are doing a lot of the rescue by themselves, pulling at
the rubble with their bare hands or with shovels. They are listening to see if they can hear
people yelling for help. There are fewer people yelling for help now. There are so many
places to look, so many houses collapsed, but the search and rescue teams can't be
everywhere at once.
There are bodies on the street, bodies everywhere. People are walking by them; it's as if
they are sleeping. It's scary. There are dead bodies lined up in rows. There is rubbish
everywhere.
Death is everywhere. Bodies of tiny children are piled next to schools. Corpses of women
lie on the street with stunned expressions on their faces as flies begin to gather. Bodies of
men are covered with plastic or cotton sheets.
Passersby lift the sheets to see if loved ones are underneath.
There is a huge amount of people in need; they are desperate for help, for food, for water.
How rich we appear to be now comparing with them! We have homes, our families
around us. We have jobs, money and far more than bare necessities. Unlike them, we
live in heaven!
