The document discusses the results of a study on the effects of a new drug on memory and cognitive function in older adults. The double-blind study involved 100 participants aged 65-80 who were given either the drug or a placebo daily for 6 months. Researchers found that those who received the drug performed significantly better on memory and problem-solving tests at the end of the study compared to those who received the placebo.

Bring out your cannons! The time has come to declare a war. A war on the empty message.
This is a call to arms for all communication professionals against messaging sans-substance. Against the lame PR we are requested to perform. To oppose spin-doctoring and to loathe spamming. We be no lazy ones that send masses of meaningless buzz words. We stand against the fake bullshit that corporations ask us to swallow hook, line and sinker.
We be heading back to the core. Back to communicating with a purpose and messaging with meaning. Back to hustling honestly to be heard through the noise.
We will listen to customers, have a conversation. To be ourselves, to let our passions drive our communication and to take no hostages. Yet have the spine to admit when we be wrong.
We care about our craft and will defend it to the death. That’s what our pirate hearts beat for: the truth behind the message. We be going back to real communication, to PR driven by a purpose.

Natural Interaction : Designing Mobile Gestural Controls (2009)
This is a talk and the transcript given at media events organized for Nokia Design in 2009. This talk is based on a Gestures project I led while working for Service & UI Design (SUID) team in Nokia Design London. EMERGING, EMERGED : INDUSTRIAL DESIGN SUMMIT 2010
This is a presentation and note for the Industrial Design Summit in Cannes, France, 2010. The talk is largely based on my observations and reflections on how we should approach design for so-called 'emerging markets', along with a few projects done for Nokia mentioned as case studies.

From research to product: Nokia Sensor Application (2005)
This talk was given at Stanford University for a graduate seminar on People, Computers and Design, organised by Human Computer Interaction program led by Terry Winograd in April 2005. The talk describes the journey from the creation and trial of research prototype to the launch of a mobile application product, which is a tool for social interaction among nearby people.
Nokia Sensor is a software application that you can download on smartphones based on Symbian OS.
It was launched by Nokia in 2005. It was downloaded for over a million copies in the first year of launch, and became a must-have out-of-box content in the Middle East, in particular. However Nokia did not recognise the importance of the mobile applications and social networking service development. In 2008, despite the popularity of the apps, Nokia stopped the maintenance of the application altogether due to the reorganisation.
What Designers Can Do For People
This is a talk for What Design Can Do conference in Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 2012. It is based on one case study : a project on developing the native Indian language text input system for touch-screen mobile phones while I was leading Nokia Research Centre in Bangalore, 2010-2011.

Open for Open Questions - UX London 2014
Many design and usability research methods cater for delving into a focused topic: You set a goal, establish hypotheses, gather data and gain insight to help create the proof, story, a view point, strategy, or whatever you are looking for – within the given budget and time. However, there can be situations where your research may focus too much on individual ‘trees’ that it cannot provide much information about the ‘forest’. For instance, what if you have perfect usability test data to prove the effectiveness of your design, but your client may be more interested to know what types of people would buy the product (and get disappointed to hear that you don’t know)? What if your polite research participants never want to talk with you about negative things about your design? This talk will share a few anecdotes exemplifying the importance of factoring in the space when exploring broader viewpoints to the user research questions, through informal social encounters, serendipitous interactions, and activities that are designed for cross-examining their results.
