This document provides guidance on writing an explanation text. It indicates that an explanation text uses the present tense and technical vocabulary to explain how something works or came to be. It recommends that an explanation text include an introduction stating what will be explained, followed by an explanation sequence using time words and connectives to describe the process, which can include diagrams or flowcharts. It should conclude with a concluding statement that may include interesting comments about what was explained. Assessment focuses are also provided for understanding, describing and retrieving information from texts.
A telescope is an instrument that aids in the observation of remote objects by collecting electromagnetic radiation like visible light. There are two main types - refracting telescopes which use lenses, and reflecting telescopes which use mirrors. The first working telescope was created in 1608 by Hans Lippershey and consisted of convex and concave lenses in a tube. Galileo then improved on this design and was the first to observe astronomical objects like the moons of Jupiter. Reflecting telescopes later became more widely used as advances allowed for larger, more stable mirrors to be crafted. Modern telescopes can see distant galaxies and observe the evolution of the universe over billions of years.

Service computing bridges traditional IT systems and business services by providing custom solutions to complex business needs like web services, cloud computing, and software as a service. It ensures businesses' needs are met efficiently. Drops is a proposed solution that integrates location data, social media content, and augmented reality to allow users to discover and share media about locations they visit. By geotagging and "dropping" content, users can view media left by others at the same spots to recreate shared experiences.

The web is increasingly Social, as are sites that were once not considered anything to do with a social network. ‘Traditional’ social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Foursquare, Quora etc. have blended into other web pages and thus the mobile web and app world too via plugins, open sourcing. Whilst websites or apps that begun with their focus on other services or topics have become increasingly social in their design over the last few years (think Instagram’s original function as a photo filtering service that has now grown into a social network of it’s own, with heavy integration into Facebook and Twitter).http://www.ere.net/2013/03/18/45-million-monthly-mobile-linkedin-searches/

There is one important distinction between Facebook search and what Google does. Google searches the entire Internet based on complex algorithms and simple keywords, whereas the yet-to-be released Facebook search (which will be gradually rolled out over the next year) searches purely within Facebook data, and more specifically only a set of Facebook data that you would have access to already, through your friends. In other words you can search within your friends but not those you aren’t already connected to, or those who have blocked you.
