Eleanor Roosevelt strongly supported unions and the right of all workers to unionize. She believed unions were fundamental to democracy and concluded that collective bargaining and the right to strike were necessary for workers in both the public and private sectors. Her support of unions is shared by actress Natalie Portman, who is grateful to be protected by her own union, SAG.
