PROPOSED FUTURISTIC
CITIES AROUND THE
WORLD
ZAIN-UL-AABIDEEN 1NS19AT052
MMBC VIII
INFERENCES
THE LINE,SAUDI ARABIA
THE LINE is a linear smart city under construction
in Saudi Arabia in Neom, Tabuk Province, which is
designed to have no cars, streets or carbon
emissions.
The 170-kilometre-long (110 mi) city is part of Saudi
Vision 2030 project, which Saudi Arabia claims will
create around 460,000 jobs and add an estimated
$48 billion to the country's GDP
The project has faced criticism over its impact on
the environment and the current population of the
area, as well as doubts about its technological
and economic viability.
Within the city, one of the most important projects
is the construction of “The Spine,” a high speed rail
line that will run along the entire length of the
city. Able to reach cross the city end the end in 20
minutes, the rail link is part of a wide
infrastructure network of sustainable mobility. An
entire transport system with zero pollution and
zero waiting times.
TELOSA
Telosa City is to be built in the middle of the
desert between Nevada, Arizona, and Utah.
About 150,000 hectares of land are
planned. According to Lore, about 50,000
people will live in the city as early as 2030
The new city will run almost exclusively on
renewable energy.
All buildings will have solar panels.
Several water treatment plants will use
the resource, which is all the more
valuable in the desert, sparingly.
At the same time, Telosa City will become a
15-minute city: Residents will find all shops
for their daily needs in the immediate
vicinity. Cars should not be necessary in
Telosa, because the focus is on pedestrians
and cyclists.
Cars that may be needed should be electric
and autonomous.
BIODIVERCITY: PENANG,
MALAYSIA
PHASE 1
Active Destinations include
a wave pool and
technology park
BiodiverCity will be a new
sustainable, global
destination where cultural,
ecological and economic
growth is secured and where
people and nature co-exist in
one of the most biodiverse
places on the planet at the
southern shore of Penang
Island
BiodiverCity is conceived as an
Urban Mosaic of three diverse
islands, and a set of urban
design guidelines for mixing
programs, addressing
pedestrian and mobility
networks, building sustainably
and harvesting resources
PHASE 2
The Mangroves, BiodiverCity’s second
and central island dedicated to
businesses, is organized around a
network of sheltered urban
wetlands, creating suitable
environments for its namesake
Mangrove forests
PHASE 3
Eight smaller islands form a
miniature archipelago, where
floating, stilted and terraced
housing takes advantage of the
natural setting of Tanjung
Gertak Sanggul, and where
fisherman landing points can
easily access the open waters by
navigating each of the island’s
waterways.
FLOATING CITY,MALDIVES
● Maldives Floating City is the first
development of a new era in which
Maldivians return to the water with
resilient eco-friendly floating
projects.
● The city has a nature-based
structure of roads and water
canals resembling the beautiful and
efficient way in which real brain
coral is organised.
● the development will contain 5,000
low-rise floating homes floating
within a 200-hectare lagoon in the
Indian Ocean.
● With the Maldives islands
predicted to be uninhabitable by
2100 due to rising sea levels, the
government of the Maldives
hopes to offer up to 20,000
locals and foreigners the
opportunity to move to the
floating city as early as 2024.
AKON CITY:
● DESIGN:The project is proposed and
planned to have large skyscrapers,
shopping malls, technology hub, music
studios, "Senewood" production
facilities, and eco-friendly tourist
resorts.
● Akon City's development is proposed
to be a ten-year project with mixed-use
development.
● Akon says that the city will be a smart
city that is eco-friendly and will be
powered by renewable energy,
including solar power
● Phase 1: Proposed to be completed by
2023 is the construction of roads, a
hospital campus, a shopping mall,
residential estates, hotels, a police
station, a school, a waste facility,
parks, and a photovoltaic solar power
plant.
● Phase 2: The project is proposed to
complete between 2024 to 2029
Akon City is a planned community by Akon. The project was first announced
by Akon in 2018.
Akon said in October 2022 that construction on the city's first phase
would begin construction in 2023 and would open in 2026
NET CITY CHINA
● The design of the headquarters project prioritizes
people and the environment at every step, from a
comprehensive transportation network that
emphasizes public transit, bicycles and pedestrian
access to stormwater and runoff collection and
public green spaces
● With ample greenery, NBBJ has replaced the grid
system used by cars in traditional neighbourhoods
with public amenities that reflect the human-
focused approach to the project.
● Ranging in height from small single-floor
buildings to 30-floor high-rises, they border a
large greenery-filled area at the center of the
project
CHENGDU FUTURE CITY
Chengdu Future City is a car-free
masterplan for the capital of China's
Sichuan province designed by
architecture studio OMA to focus on
the site's existing geography and
topography.
The 4.6-square-kilometre scheme,
which is being developed within the
rolling hills of east Chengdu, will
contain six clusters that are
modelled on traditional village
settlements in the city.
Each zone will be car-free, with all
buildings within them accessible by
foot within ten minutes. A "smart
mobility network" that utilises
automated vehicles will connect
them to the surrounding city.
The International Educational Park is
expected to measure 460,000 square
metres and will host spaces for
multiple universities, including
student accommodation,
laboratories and offices
THE ORBIT,CANADA
● The Orbit is a “vision for a next-generation
community” according to Partisans, one
that will transform Innisfil, a farming town
of 37,00 people in Ontario with a raft of
new technologies.
● “The Orbit is a cutting-edge community
where small town and rural lifestyles co-
exist with the benefits and attributes of
urban living,” the company said in a
statement
● The city will be filled with innovations such
as a network of fibre-optic cables, capable
of creating streets and infrastructure
that are plugged into the internet and use
sensors for monitoring.
● There will also be a big emphasis on green
spaces within the urban environment –
large rooftops, for example, will be
planted with foliage to suck in CO2 and
release oxygen
● “The city, inspired by the idea of an orbit,
will ripple outwards from this hub in a
circular pattern, containing development,
while embracing Innisfil’s agricultural
roots,” the firm said. “Essentially,
residents will be able to balance the
benefits of living in an urban and rural
community.”
OCEANIX
Architecture firm BIG has designed a
concept for a floating city of
10,000 people that could help
populations threatened by extreme
weather events and rising sea
levels.
These clusters would then be
repeated in multiples of six to form
a 12-hectare village for 1,650
residents, and then again to form an
archipelago home to 10,000 citizens.
Each of the modules would be built
on land and then towed to sea,
where they would be anchored in
place. The miniature islands are also
designed to survive a category-five
hurricane.
A number of renewable energy
resources, such as wind and water
turbines and solar panels are also
incorporated. Food production and
farming would be integrated and
follow a zero-waste policy
CHENGDU SKY VALLEY
● Located in southwest China, Chengdu city
is a newly emerging city which is a
predominantly rural district with
agricultural fields and low-lying hills as
surrounding natural features
● Innovative integration of traditional and
modern contexts has resulted in a future
city which accommodates the existing
agricultural fields as well as modern
building on hill-top to amplify the hilly
skyline.
● The objective is achieved by forming an
adaptable system that will work as a
solution to climate change, sustainable
use of water resources and mobility.
● The development process of sky valley is
predominantly divided into three broad
valley categories namely the knowledge
valley, the experience valley, and the
venture valley.
● These valleys are further facilitated
with mixed-use clusters of distinct
characters including an education park,
learning village, maker valley, talent
heaven, labs, and a transit development
for Futian metro station.

  • 9. THE ORBIT,CANADA ● The Orbit is a “vision for a next-generation community” according to Partisans, one that will transform Innisfil, a farming town of 37,00 people in Ontario with a raft of new technologies. ● “The Orbit is a cutting-edge community where small town and rural lifestyles co- exist with the benefits and attributes of urban living,” the company said in a statement ● The city will be filled with innovations such as a network of fibre-optic cables, capable of creating streets and infrastructure that are plugged into the internet and use sensors for monitoring. ● There will also be a big emphasis on green spaces within the urban environment – large rooftops, for example, will be planted with foliage to suck in CO2 and release oxygen ● “The city, inspired by the idea of an orbit, will ripple outwards from this hub in a circular pattern, containing development, while embracing Innisfil’s agricultural roots,” the firm said. “Essentially, residents will be able to balance the benefits of living in an urban and rural community.”
  • 10. OCEANIX Architecture firm BIG has designed a concept for a floating city of 10,000 people that could help populations threatened by extreme weather events and rising sea levels. These clusters would then be repeated in multiples of six to form a 12-hectare village for 1,650 residents, and then again to form an archipelago home to 10,000 citizens. Each of the modules would be built on land and then towed to sea, where they would be anchored in place. The miniature islands are also designed to survive a category-five hurricane. A number of renewable energy resources, such as wind and water turbines and solar panels are also incorporated. Food production and farming would be integrated and follow a zero-waste policy
