This document provides information about a workshop on mining in Indonesia that will take place from September 20-21, 2015. The workshop will examine how decentralization and legal reforms have impacted communities living near mineral deposits. Papers will address the differing scales and impacts of mining activities, as well as contemporary regulatory regimes. Speakers will present case studies from various universities and organizations in Indonesia and discuss topics like resource nationalism, labour exploitation, conflicts over mining, and the social and environmental impacts of artisanal and small-scale mining.
