I am writing to recommend Micheal Pando for employment with your organization.
During his undergraduate career here at Valparaiso University, I have had Micheal in
four classes: Statics, Soil Mechanics, Soils and Foundation Engineering, and Shear
Strength of Soils. I have also served as his academic advisor for several years during his
time at Valpo. I believe that I have gotten to know Micheal quite well over this time.
While Micheal’s performance in my classes here at Valparaiso University had not been
outstanding (in part due to the difficulties of trying to balance football and academics his
first few years), I believed that he is a student whose grades do not accurately reflect his
potential as a practicing engineer. I believe that Micheal possesses skills critical to an
engineer that are not always measured fully in the classroom. Additionally, over the last
several semesters, I have seen a significant improvement in Micheal’s maturity and work
ethic and believe he is now ready and able to succeed in the professional environment.
