language that emerged in the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of
England and lasted for what would become the South
East of Scotland under the influence of the Kingdom
of Northumbria. Through the influence of economic,
military, political, scientific, cultural and colonial Britain

via the British Empire, and the United States since the

reported worldwide, becoming the main language of
international discourse and lingua franca in many
