MICROSOFT IN TELECOM
Project Arno: How Microsoft Research created the technology and
industry momentum for Azure to empower telecom operators in
the cloud
Traditional telco equipment vendors wanted operators to build their own
dedicated “telco clouds,” arguing that public clouds were inadequate. But in
2020, Microsoft unveiled Azure for Operators to bring carrier-grade cloud
and edge technologies to telco operators and to partner with them to
create new opportunities and provide core infrastructure. And in June 2021,
AT&T announced that it will move its 5G mobile network to
Microsoft cloud.
Digital experiences drive new revenue and differentiation for Telcos
Like 72 percent of organizations1, Telcos have long had customer
experience (CX) top of mind and been investing to drive revenue growth.
