This document provides instructions for saving seeds from various vegetable crops. It explains that seedsaving allows one to grow crops well-adapted to local conditions. For most crops, the instructions note potential for cross-pollination between varieties and the distance needed to isolate seed crops. Advice is given on selecting plants, harvesting seeds, and storing them. The goal is to produce pure seeds that will "grow true to type" in following years.

The red text stands out against the busy background, making the cover noticeable. This allows the magazine to advertise in more ways and strongly appeal to its target digital native audience.
This document discusses privacy issues related to frequent buyer programs used by grocery stores and other retailers. It notes that while these programs aim to profile customers' purchasing habits to target them more accurately, they also collect a large amount of personal information from customers. This information could potentially be misused, such as being used against individuals in criminal cases, sold to third parties without consent, or stolen through data breaches, violating users' privacy. The document examines technologies like loyalty cards and electronic toll payments that facilitate data collection and the risks they pose to customer privacy.

Greek farmers sued seed companies Pioneer and Syngenta for selling them genetically modified (GMO) contaminated maize seeds without their knowledge. The Greek government destroyed over 100 hectares of contaminated crops. The seed companies offered compensation to farmers but required them to sign agreements not to oppose the companies. Some farmers rejected these offers and through their organization GESASE, sued the companies and Greek authorities for allowing the contaminated seeds on the market. The lawsuits aimed to preserve Greek agriculture and biodiversity from GMOs.

1) The study evaluated the effects of seeding rates (2.5, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 kg/ha) and sowing methods (row, broadcast) on growth, yield, and yield attributes of tef.
2) Seeding rate significantly affected several parameters like days to panicle emergence, days to maturity, panicle weight, seed weight, and thousand seed weight, with the highest values at 2.5 kg/ha.
3) Both seeding rate and sowing method significantly impacted total tillers, productive tillers, plant height and grain yield. Row sowing at 2.5 kg/ha produced the most tillers but lowest height and yield. The
Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) is an Indian government program that aims to transfer subsidies directly to people below the poverty line by depositing funds into their bank accounts. It was launched nationally in 2013 to replace the existing subsidy delivery system with direct cash transfers. DBT links recipient bank accounts to their Aadhaar identification numbers to directly deposit subsidies for services like LPG, kerosene, MGNREGA wages, pensions and scholarships. This eliminates corruption by removing middlemen and ensures only eligible recipients receive funds. Over 66 government schemes across 15 ministries have implemented DBT, directly distributing over Rs. 61,822 crores to 31 crore beneficiaries in 2015-16. The program is based on successful models in
This document discusses seed classifications and standards. It covers three classifications: botanical based on cotyledons, breeder classification based on genetic quality, and storage classification based on moisture tolerance. Breeder classification includes nucleus, breeder's stock, foundation, certified, and truthfully labeled seed. Standards are provided for crops like rice, wheat, barley, lentil and others in terms of pure seed, germination, moisture, weed seeds and other parameters. Good seed is described as having high vitality, true to type, pure, clean, and tolerant to stresses. The document lists references used to compile the information.
