Michael Vey is the 14-year-old main character who has the power to electrically shock people just by touching them. He discovers that his friend Taylor also has electric powers over the mind. They learn they are not alone when the villainous Hatch, who runs a school to train electric children, kidnaps Taylor and Michael's mother in order to force Michael and Taylor to join him. With the help of Michael's friends Ostin and two former bullies, Michael mounts a rescue attempt to save his mother and Taylor from Hatch's plans to use the electric children to take over the world.

and has Touretts and can electrically shock people
just by touching them.
• Taylor Ridley:14 is a friend of Michael’s who was
also adopted, and he soon finds out that she has
electric power like him but over the brain.
• Ostin Liss:14, best friend of Michael, has no powers
other than his brain.
• Sharon Vey: Mother of Michael who gets kidnapped
early in the book to use as bait by Hatch.
• Hatch: Headmaster of Elgen Academy, a school for
the electric children, whose goal is to take over the
world with an army of electric children.

This book takes place in present day
Idaho then moves on to
Pasadena, California to Elgen
Academy, or should I say Elgen Prison.

4. Summary
Michael Vey is a 14 year old boy just like you and
I, there's just one thing different, he’s electric. Ever since
Michael was little he could shock people just by
touching them. Though when Michael gets in a fight and
shocks 3 bullies with Taylor as a witness he learns that
he isn't alone. Taylor can look into peoples mind and can
change things and cause confusion, but when they go
looking for their birth records, Hatch finds them. Hatch
is the bad guy of the story. He is super rich and plans to
take over the world with the help of the remaining 13
electric children whom 11 of them he controls, and
whether they want to or not Michael and Taylor are
forced into his “school after Hatch kidnaps Taylor and
Michaels mom. Michael gets the help of 2 of the bullies
he shocked and Ostin in a valiant rescue attempt to save
Taylor, his mom, and possibly the world.

5. I liked this book because there is almost
always some kind of action and because
you can see points of view from more than
one of the characters. This would be a good
book for people who don’t like reading
because there is almost always something
interesting going on and its easy to
understand.
