Alternative Beach Sports by Michelle Madsen sampleBurning Eye
Michell Madsen is a good example of a growing band of poets who have learnt their craft by performing live. If you only encountered her poetry on the page however, you would just think "poet" and find no need to get weighed down by a "performance" prefix or wonder whether this is that mysterious Spoken Word you have heard about.
Maybe Michelle is a cross over artist who is at ease in both poetry worlds, she certainly understands better than most that “page and stage” operate inside the same tent. The poems collected here show a flair for structure and technique that only serves to strengthen work written first and foremost with the microphone in mind. From wild romance to dark satire Michelle’s poetry contemplates love, lust, physics, politics, identity and gastronomic oddities.
‘Michelle Madsen is one of the few poets I know whose work is as good on the page as it is performed. Her poems are what I send to those who protest that spoken word poetry is not proper poetry.’
Hollie McNish
‘Promises sparkle, and champagne and glittery
dresses. As do lying eyes, glass in the gutter and the hen-do aftermath. Whether it’s sported proudly or tossed to the kerb, an engagement ring shines, a winning smile gleams and Michelle Madsen’s poetry surely sparkles.’
Tim Wells
‘Michelle Madsen is a top bird!’

In which ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms & conventions of media products?
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks?
Maths, science, retro arcade games, and what it feels like to be stood up in a restaurant by an entire poetry society. Dan Simpson considers them all and more in his first collection.
Unlike many a debut poet, Dan has given this collection a thorough stress test on the live circuit, and many of these poems have been commissioned for public projects. Dan is a poet who likes to play around with form. He likes to deconstruct and get a bit meta with the mental algorithms that sit beneath a poem.
The result is an accessible and enjoyable collection of poems for geeks, nerds, and anyone who likes playing with words.
This document summarizes a scoping study on building biodiversity business. It finds that while protected area numbers and coverage are growing, more is needed to stem biodiversity loss. It analyzes sectors like agriculture, forestry, and ecotourism and finds opportunities in areas like conservation carbon, biodiversity offsets, sustainable biofuels, and biodiversity management services. It recommends developing business plans and pilot projects for these "best bets" to test concepts and kickstart the biodiversity market.
Presentation given on the 26th July 2012 to Avon University Libraries in Cooperation exploring MSc research into the use of ebooks in Public Libraries in 2010.
The document summarizes the opening of a new secondary school, SES Yard, in Catalonia, Spain in March 2005/2006. Students from primary schools could choose between the existing IES Guillem Berguedà center or the newly created SES Yard. In the beginning, SES Yard was still under construction and only had one building completed. By September 12, classes started and more facilities like a computer room and sports courts were added by late September and February. The local city council and IES Guillem Berguedà helped prepare the new school for its opening in the summer of 2005.
The document discusses the target audience for a media product. It states that the audience for a thriller film would be males and females aged 16-24, as younger people make up most cinema goers. It also notes that leaving a film on a cliffhanger at the end of previews would entice viewers to watch the full film to find out what happens next, a common technique used in film trailers. Statistics and audience research were cited to identify who goes to the cinema and why.

This document describes the layout of a public high school located in prefabricated modules in Berguedà, Berga. The school, opened in 2006, contains computer, art, and science labs across 5 modules that house classrooms for different grades, teacher offices, and an administration building. An outdoor playground is also included on the school grounds.
The document compares the prices of 15 common grocery and household items across 4 shopping areas - Shop-o-rama, Mindpro Citimall, Southway Square, and The Gateway. Mindpro generally has the highest prices, while the other 3 areas have similar pricing. An observation is made that while the 4 stores have prices within close range of each other, Mindpro tends to price consumer goods slightly higher than the other 3 locations.
The great American civilizations: The mayasGladimar Marín
The Mayas were one of the earliest and most advanced civilizations in Mesoamerica. They settled in present-day Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras between 2000 BC to 900 AD and organized into independent city-states ruled by priests in a theocracy. The Mayas were skilled farmers, astronomers, mathematicians, and engineers who made significant contributions including developing the first known zero in mathematics and a hieroglyphic writing system. At their peak, the Mayas had sophisticated cities and large populations with advanced cultural and scientific achievements before mysteriously declining in the 9th century AD.
The Cultural Policy Project "LeuvenVerhaalt" involved developing an online platform to share short stories about the city of Leuven. Representatives from the project visited Brussels to present their initial idea of creating an audio walking tour and stories. They received feedback, refined the concept, and decided to focus on publishing stories online and linking them to locations on a map of Leuven. Six stories from four writers were published on the website for people to read. The project involved coordinating with partners, recruiting writers, developing a website and marketing strategy, and applying for subsidies. A SWOT analysis was conducted to evaluate strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
Mohandas Gandhi was born in 1869 in India and was married at age 13 or 14. He studied law in London and then moved to South Africa in 1893, where he spent 20 years fighting for equal rights for Indians. When Gandhi returned to India in 1914, he became a leader in the Indian independence movement and advocated for non-violent protest. On January 30, 1948, Gandhi was assassinated by gunshots in India by a man who was angry at him for being late to a prayer meeting. Gandhi is considered a hero for his role in helping India gain independence and influencing civil rights leaders like Martin Luther King Jr.
