1. Michael O’Donnell
Managing Director, Australasia, Canterbury International
Michael joined Pentland in January 2005 and Canterbury in April 2014.
Currently, Managing Director of Canterbury Australasia, Michael is responsible for the Canterbury business
in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.
Michael’s prior role in Pentland was Vice President International Business Development – Speedo. In this
role Michael oversaw the support functions for Speedo licensees and distributors covering 25 markets across
the Asia Pacific, Middle East, African and Latin American regions.
In 1990 Michael started his career in Australia working with an independent multi- brand distribution company
known as True Alliance. Commencing in sales he developed through the managerial ranks from 1997 to 2002
culminating in General Management.
In 2002, Michael joined Reebok International and was appointed Regional Director Rockport Asia and
responsible for the sales and marketing functions for 14 markets across the region.
He is a performance driven leader and motivator, who has a dedicated attitude to brand building and winning.
Having adapted the partner mix, Michael developed and implemented strategic plans for Speedo which built
brand equity, market share and sharp revenue growth during his time with the brand.
Canterbury is the world’s leading Rugby brand. It’s heritage is genuine and it’s development potential remains
great. The challenge of helping Canterbury reach it’s potential as a global brand is hugely exciting.
Michael is married to Sasha and has one boy now entering university. In Winter you will find Michael watching
Rugby and, in Summer, on the beaches of Sydney.
