My music video used several conventions of real hip-hop music videos, such as using green screen scenes, filming in various locations associated with hip-hop culture, and including opening credits stating the title and artist. However, it also challenged some conventions by not including jewelry or tattoos typically featured in hip-hop videos and using still images in the introduction and middle, paying homage to the French film La Jetée. The fast-paced editing and inclusion of various shots and angles were meant to be entertaining for the target younger audience while also showing the artist's progression from living in poorer areas to achieving success.
