This document provides an overview of a course on global business management. The course consists of three modules: 1) Growing and internationalizing business, 2) Complex international diversification, and 3) Emerging markets and giants. Module 1 includes a discussion of offshoring/business process outsourcing (BPO) as a way for firms to enter foreign markets. BPO involves outsourcing knowledge-intensive processes, often to India to take advantage of lower labor costs. Reasons for offshoring have evolved beyond cost savings to include innovation. Global sourcing of business processes has become a key strategy for large multinational corporations.
