2. KEY FACTS ABOUT THE WAR
•The war was between the United States of America and Mexican Nation.
•The war lasted from April of 1846 to February of 1848.
•Most battles were fought on Mexican soil for the most part.
3. WHY DID IT HAPPEN!!
•It happened because of the fact that the US made Texas a official state of the
United States of America and basically claimed it. The Mexican government
thought that it still belonged to them or at least felt strong that it was not the
United States Land they can just take.
4. THE GROUPS THAT WERE AFFECTED
• The main groups that were affected were the slaves and the, United States Citizens.
• During the time of the war the US reponed the port for slaves, because they were needed during
the war but at the same time a lot were being killed as well.
• The other group where the citizens of the US and because of the fact that the war was using
slaves, it made citizens pick sides because some were ok with slavery and the other were against
slavery. This issue soon led people to picking the North or the South.
5. RELATION TO PERIOD OF TIME
• One thing I can relate this to would have to be the Removal of the American Indian Tribes that
were forced out of there land.
• The US did the same thing with the Mexicans that were already living in Texas after the Mexican
American war. The US were very violet with how they handle things.
• The Indian Tribes were kick from the Mississippi River and relocated to what is now known as
present day Oklahoma.
