The MPC recently announced a groundbreaking 30-year
vision for Chicagoland’s three major rivers: the Chicago,
Calumet, and Des Plaines. The focus is on creating more
inviting river features, from shoreline to riverbed, that offer
integrated recreational and economy-enhancing uses.

locales that offer major development and restoration

industrial parks, as well as existing natural preserves.
A key strategy for enacting transformation involves

outreach efforts and providing an open forum for
brainstorming ideas. These will be run through local
government agencies, and encompass efforts to boost
sustainable productivity and address persistent issues,
such as sewer overflows.
