Meimei was born in 1922 in Brazil and passed away at a young age of 24 due to kidney disease. During her short life, she was known for her beauty, intelligence, and love of children. After her passing, her husband Arnaldo discovered Spiritism and learned that Meimei was still communicating through psychographed works. She conveyed messages of love, faith, and hope. Meimei continues to teach about spirituality and strengthening one's character through her literature and example of selflessness.

This weekend’s Gospel from John drops us in at the end of the Last Supper as Jesus gives his disciples a new commandment on how to live and love. The old directive was to ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’ Jesus takes this up a few notches and says we are to love another as Christ loved us. So, what does that kind of love – depth of love – Christ centered love - look like?
Perhaps the easiest way to understand this is through stories by Parker Palmer, Jean Vanier and Greg Boyle. Take a listen to the invitation that is before us each and every day – of how we are called to “ventilate the world” with love, tenderness, compassion, forgiveness and mercy.

They try to despondent you, to make you doubt the meaning of your deed.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

“Dear Lord,
Grant me awareness of my many mistakes.
Don't allow me to live deluded about
myself.
May I have enough lucidity to know who I
am.
May I achieve more than others, detect the
weaknesses that are common to me.
Give me your strength so that I can
overcome myself, your light so I don't walk
in darkness, your peace in the struggle that
afflicts me.
May I always be sincere in my purposes and humble in
my attitudes, true in my words and faithful to my
commitments.
Lord, do not leave me to the invigilance and harassment
of evil.
Be my shelter and my inspiration!...
So be it."

Meimei and the phenomenon of materialization
• Arnaldo tells us the story that one day Meimei appeared to him and he could touch
her. This is called phenomenon of materialization.
• One night he smelled a very pleasant parfum, similar to the one Meimei liked to use.
• Slowly the hallway became very bright and then, he saw her.
• “She looked at me, greeted me and walked to where I was sitting. Her clothing was
very soft and translucid. She was very beautiful, stunning. I stood up to hug her and
felt her spiritual heart beating. We fraternally kissed, and she touched my face and
played with my ears, of course.”
(From the book “Mandato de Amor” by Chico Xavier, Arnaldo Rocha narrates this fact.)

Conclusion
• Meimei has always been a spirit of light, who helped and continues to
help those around her.
• Through spiritist literature, she teaches us about love and strengthens
our faith in the higher plane, as reflected in this message:
“Let us not forget that the forest was created from almost
invisible seeds, that the river is formed from tiny springs and
that the light of Heaven, within ourselves, begins from tiny
rays of love to radiate from our hearts.”
