KDEK undertook several activities during the project to achieve the key products of a Volunteering Framework based on the 3 Rs of Recruitment, Retainment and Recognition, and a web platform. KDEK set up a volunteer database, provided training to volunteers, distributed project information locally, and participated in research reports. KDEK also contributed content to the project website and presented its "Social Pharmacy" program as a best practice example that implemented all three Rs of the Volunteering Framework.

Bernardita Figueroa: The use of Service Design in the design of a public fund...Service Design Network
During 2015 the Public Innovation Laboratory won a public tender to work on a proposal to re-design the National Fund for the Arts FONDART, based on Service Design and co-creative methods. This case is a singular experience of a bottom-up design process in the Chilean government, where policies usually result from top-down process engineering methods. This presentation will expose how we managed to sell and develop a proposal for a public fund beyond more traditional design outputs. We will examine the methodology, techniques and tools used to develop this case and show preliminary results of the implementation of the project.

How European Civil Society Organisations Strive for their Development Effecti...Inka Pibilova
This brief provides a short overview of key global and European initiatives on Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) Development Effectiveness and mentions key challenges. Further, it shows concrete examples of how European CSOs have put the Istanbul Principles into practice since 2011. It serves as one of the inputs for the High Level Meeting in Mexico in April 2014, focusing on progress in development effectiveness since Busan. It will also serve as a basis for subsequent work on CSO development effectiveness in European NGO Confederation for Relief and Development - CONCORD and the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE).

The Initiative: “Linking smallholder farmers to commercialization practices: the case of Farmers Organizations in the Kenyan dairy sector” is a joint learning initiative promoted by IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) and Procasur developed under the Large Regional IFAD-Procasur Grant Programme "Strengthening Capacities and tools to scale up and disseminate Innovations" (2016-2018). This topic was selected resting on the consolidated results of the (i) online survey lunched by PROCASUR in April 2016 in the ESA region, (ii) in depth interviews to project managers of IFAD funded projects in the ESA region, and (iii) experts’ consultation undertaken among specialists in the area of Farmers Organizations.
1. Meeting in Palermo (IT)
Presentation of Activities undertaken by KDEK during the project lifetime
(2011 – 2013)
As partners decided in the 1st
partners meeting in Cyprus, the key products of the
project will be a Volunteering Framework constituted by the 3 Rs: Recruitment,
Retainment and Recognition, while the secondary product will be a web platform.
Consequently, the Activities that KDEK carried out were in line and aim at achieving
these key products.
1. Before the meeting in Cyprus:
• Set up a database of Volunteers. Then, the staffs and the volunteers who will
participate in the Mobilities were decided,
• Meetings were organized to inform and train volunteers about the requirements of
the project.
2. Soon after the meeting in Cyprus KDEK:
• Filled in and delivered the “Questionnaire about Recruitment of Volunteers in
Social Care”. The questionnaire was filled in by 3 local organizations/
associations, that base part of their activities on volunteering, i.e.:
KDEK,
Organization of Culture, Youth and Sports (OPONGA),
Association of Kilkis Association of Cancer Patients.
After that, the results gathered have been elaborated.
• Updated its Volunteers’ database,
• Disseminated the project and its aims at local level (local newspapers, website),
• Organized a meeting to inform KDEK staff about kick off meeting results.
3. In December 2011 KDEK participated in the research “Country Reports”
carried out by all partners in the frame of the project. KDEK translated the
template into Greek and then carried out the research itself in Greece.
4. KDEK contributed to the website by uploading information.
5. During the meeting in London KDEK reported on the lack of formal and informal
recognition that appeared to have countered what might have been an opportunity
to stimulate more volunteering.
6. As a “best practice” the example of the “Social Pharmacy” run by KDEK has
been presented. It is an integrated example where the 3 Rs have been practiced,
that is to say that there were precise Recruitment initiatives (promotion,
selection criteria), Retainment (training, supporting, active involvement),
Recognition. A report has been prepared on this regard.
