MEDILAMP brings together two of the most documented and researched air purifying technology in an energy
efficient package.
                               2
MEDILAMP is coated with TiO (Titanium Oxide). It is a lightweight metal that when exposed to light, will create a
non-toxic vapor that contains two highly reactive electrons, hydroxyl radicals and super-oxide ions.

These highly reactive electrons aggressively combine with other elements in the air, such as bacteria and VOCs
(Volatile Organic Compounds), which include harmful pollutants such as formaldehyde, ammonia and many other
common contaminants released by building materials and household cleaners generally found in the home.

Once bound together, a chemical reaction takes place between the super-charged ion and the pollutant,
effectively ‘oxidizing’ (or burning) the pollutant. This breaks the pollutant down into harmless carbon dioxide and
water molecules, making the air more purified.

This air purifying process is called Photo Catalytic Oxidation or PCO.

In 1998, chemistry scientists from the University of Colorado and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in
Colorado, USA conducted an experiment testing the effectiveness of PCO against harmful VOCs and discovered
that destruction of these contaminants was nearly 100%.

In another study commissioned by the U.S. Department of Energy, scientists found that PCO converted more
than 95% of harmful VOC chemicals to harmless carbon dioxide and water molecules.

Similar tests and studies by professional, private and government bodies and established universities can be
found in www.sciencedirect.com.

MEDILAMP also uses an air purifying process called Ionization. This process uses electrical voltage to charge
(or ionize) air molecules. It can be Negative Ions (Anions) or Positive Ions (Cations). Most air purifiers use
Anions as it has been well documented and researched, proven to be effective to purify the air.

When negatively charged air molecules (Anions) collide with any suspended airborne particles, it will pass on its
electrical charge, similar in effect to static electricity. The particles are then strongly attracted to the nearest
‘earthed’ surfaces, which could be the wall, floor or furniture.

While these negatively charged particles drift about, other air pollutants such as dust, pollen, cigarette smoke,
aerosol sprays, car fumes and even bacteria, will be attracted to and cluster around the ions. The particles will
grow in size, a process called aggregation. When it becomes too heavy it will then fall to the ground, thus
removing all airborne pollutants, effectively disinfecting the surrounding air.

This air purifying process cleans the air and injects a ‘fresh’ smell to it. This ‘fresh’ smelling air is similar to air
surrounding a waterfall, or when it just rained heavily, or in a pristine forest. All these areas have abundant
natural occurring Anions.

MEDILAMP is equipped with the latest Microfiber Optic Ionizer (MOI) that produces more than 800,000 anions
       3
per cm . The anions that the MOI produces are microscopically small and shoot out at high velocity. These are
found to be the most effective and beneficial to health as it will attract the smallest microscopic airborne particles.

MEDILAMP has no known side effects when exposed to humans and has been proven to be extremely effective
in disinfecting an indoor air environment according to tests done by the Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya or
the University Malaya Medical Centre in 2008.

MEDILAMP Compact Fluorescent Bulbs (CFLs) are available in PLCs, PLCEs, T8 Fluorescent Tubes and also
available in international standard sockets i.e. E27, E14, G13 and G24D sockets.
