Radio Script:
Bailey: You’re listening to TT Radio, its currently 5pm in studio and we hope
you’re ready to hear the latest gossip into the sporting world. Today were joint
with the up and coming cricket superstar Tegh Banse. Massive welcome to the
studio Tegh!
Tegh: Thank you, it’s a pleasure to be here.
Bailey: To start off, I’m gonna you ask a series of questions which I’m sure your
fans are eager to hear and help them understand your lifestyle and the
secrets behind your success.
Tegh: Okay, sounds great
Bailey: Firstly, tell me Tegh, what first inspired you to play cricket?
Tegh: Ooo… Tough question. To be honest, there were many factors which
inspired me, however I’d have to say my dad, Avtar, I’m sure he’d be
annoyed if I didn’t say him [laughs]. Cricket was a big part of my
childhood, being the biggest sport within my culture so all my cousins
would play and introduced me from a young age.
Bailey: Ahh, so was your dad your main coach or did you play for a club to start
off?
Tegh: Nah I didn’t I join a club till I was in year 6, that’s when I was 11 for all of
you international listeners. But I was always playing cricket with my
family which helped me develop my skills, I guess. When I joined a club
and started to train properly, I noticed a big change and before I knew it,
I was playing county cricket.
Bailey: It sounds like a lot of the skills came to you naturally then?
Tegh: Yeah, I guess so. I was always sporty during school and enjoyed playing a
lot of sports. Believe it or not football was actually my first passion. I still
remember the day I came to my Dad and told him I wanted to play
football instead, right after getting my county trials for cricket.
Bailey: Oh really, how did your dad react to this?
Tegh: [laughs]: he wasn’t happy to say the least, however I sacrificed football
and I guess I could say it payed off.
Bailey: Aha most definitely payed off n I’m sure all your fans would agree.
Bailey: Anyway, moving onto your career, out of all your achievements so far
which would you say was most significant and important to you. I know you
have a lot so think carefully [laughs]
Tegh: [Laughs]. Yeah, I’d have to say my junior England debut. This was a big
moment for me and more importantly my family, seeing my parents and
friends I grew up with afterwards was surreal, they looked more excited than
me if I’m honest. [haha].
Bailey: Yeah, I can imagine, how did you deal with that kind of pressure at such
a young age?
Tegh: I’ve always been confident. Growing up I was used to travelling and
playing in big games with years groups considerable higher than me, which I
guess helped prepared me for these high-pressure games.
Bailey: Aha yeah, performing in front of thousands of people is not your
average lifestyle for any teenager and its honestly impressive how well you
delt with it.
Bailey: Anyway, this is all we had time for today, a massive thanks to tegh for
joining us and giving an insight into his amazing career and thank you to those
who have tuned into TT Radio.
Tegh: Thank you, it’s been a pleasure
