2. The aim I was working towards was creating and producing
an opening title. The narrative was based around an
average man who inherits his grandmothers job of being
an undercover spy. However, all is not well as he struggles
to overcome many problems including a strain on his
relationship as his new job begins to take over his life. It is
based on an action, comedy genre and felt it would have a
relation to similar films such as Johnny English and Get
Smart.
The title sequence involves overlaying video footage
created by changing the opacity of each video, this is to
represent the two sides of Mr Teddy’s life one of him living
a normal life and the other of his secretive new job.

5. The transitions of the typography follows the conventions of it’s genre because it is
similar to films such as Johnny English. The way in which it slides off the screen is to
represent speed, this is a key aspect throughout any action film. The typography itself
is to represent child like handwriting, this brings in the comedy genre because it shows
Mr Teddy to have a lack in knowledge; this also follows the conventions of it’s genre as
it can relate to Johnny English breaking the chair as he plays with it in a child like
manner.

7. Throughout the pre-production we were constantly receiving
feedback from our target audience, we collected the data from
younger family members and students around school; we then
presented this data through tally charts and graphs. I felt this
helped throughout the process because it presented what would
be successful and what wouldn’t.

8. Addressing the audience
In the title sequence we address the audience
by using a similar typography to the ones we
found in films that targeted our audience
including Get Smart and Johnny English.
We made the protagonist humorous and child
like so the target audience would be able to
relate to him. We also made the mis-en-scne
simple and easy to understand; and finally chose
music which connotes energy and fun.

9. Technologies
I have learnt how to use a range of technologies
from this project but the most important would be
to always use a tripod as this gives the outcome a
professional and sophisticated appearance. I have
also learnt how to key in a green screen and
discovered the outcome doesn’t always meet my
expectations. Having little editing skills I found Final
Cut Pro quite confusing and feel I would need more
practise in order to form a smooth, high quality
outcome. Overall I feel this project has expanded
my knowledge on technologies and has presented
how some aspects need more practise and
understanding than others.

10. What I have learnt
Looking at my final product I don’t feel it is as successful as it could have been, even though
I feel our pre-production was very thought out and organised I feel we over looked how
hard creating the title sequence would actually be. To improve this I think our original idea
should be more simple, this would mean the outcome would have continuity, the simplicity
of it would also form an effective outcome. I feel we tried to involve too many scenes which
ended up leading to confusion, the overlaying of clips also meant the sequence narrative
was hard to understand; this would be unsuccessful for our target audience because they
are of a younger age and wouldn’t be able to work out what was happening. I also
discovered it is easier and quicker to re-shoot certain scenes than try to fix them in the
editing process, this not only saves time but also makes the outcome more sophisticated. I
feel the typography and transitions were highly successful because of the previously
mentioned comments. I feel we could also improve on performance because I don’t feel
the acting was convincing, it feels as if the actors are going through the motions/actions but
not actually expressing the character we hoped they would. Another issue we faced as a
group was team work, I feel we needed to communicate our idea’s, problems and overall
feelings during the process. However, as a result of this confusion was created which caused
slight conflict between us; this has shown me how it is better to work together to form an
organised and successful outcome, than against each other for many mistakes to take place.
Overall the outcome good be highly improved but I feel this project has highlighted many
problems I can work on in the future; it has also widened my knowledge on
cinematography, technologies and producing a title sequence.
