A Multi-disciplinary Workshop with Industry (MDWI) is a forum where a diverse selection of scientists works collaboratively on challenges raised by industries and related to industries. Being a systematic way of bringing cutting-edge industrial problems to the attention of a scientific community, the Workshops elaborate the necessary collaboration environment and make policy makers, funding bodies, general public and a wider industrial community aware of available opportunities to enable the scientific expertise to be brought to bear on real-life problems.

Brief description
A Multi-disciplinary Workshop with Industry
(MDWI) is a daylong event where a diverse selec-
tion of academic researchers works collaboratively
on challenges raised by industries and related to
industries. A series of six seeding Workshops is
organised by the Australian Nuclear Science and
Technology Organisation (ANSTO) with support
from the NSW Government. The Workshops are
expected to encompass a range of scientific and
engineering disciplines and is similarly expected to
be relevant to a range of national and international
industries. Multi-disciplinary Workshops are aimed
to bridge a gap between the academic sector and
commercial companies as well as to network, forge
long-lasting collaborations, learn and explore at
one place at one time.

How to Participate
There are no limitations to the industrial areas
and challenges that can be considered during the
workshops. The sort of problems that have been
previously investigated by Study Groups and in-
dustrial problem solving workshops in the UK,
continental Europe and the US ranges from met-
allurgy, bioscience and nanotechnology to man-
agement of stock surplus, GPS in a shopping
mall, synthetic aperture radar operation and traf-
fic safety control. If you are interested in present-
