The Malaysian Consuttative Council Of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST) objects to provisions in the RANG UNDANG-UNDANG PENTADBIRAN AGAMA ISLAM (WILAYAH-WILAYAH PERSEKUTUAN) 2013 that would allow unilateral conversion of minors by a single parent to Islam. This would be unconstitutional and contradict previous Cabinet decisions. The MCCBCHST calls on the Cabinet to withdraw the bill and thoroughly debate it with stakeholders, as provisions allowing single parent conversion and expanding the powers of Syariah courts violate the Federal Constitution.
