MBH – A LOOK BACK ON 2018
As we come to the end of an eventful year, which has had its fair share of ups and downs here at MBH, we have
progressed forward, growing and maintaining our core values and mission ahead of all else.
One of the most common questions we have received this year is, how we as a firm are dealing with the effects of
BREXIT negotiations? Very simply put, we are not focused on BREXIT, we cannot change what is going to take place and
no one is sure of what the outcome will be, therefore, MBH management has decided to focus on our
Purpose – to deliver our projects faster than anybody else without compromise.
Below is a broad view of the staff celebrations and projects we have been involved with, started, finished and new
clients we have picked up along the way.
So, here’s what 2018 looked like for us:
MBH Director, Warren Smith celebrated 30 years at MBH!
Over his career, Warren has compiled a wide range of professional
experience in the design, surveying and management of many types of
building and development. This is within the retail, leisure, hospitality and
oil industries throughout the United Kingdom.
Warren’s specialist knowledge of the design, construction and project
management of petrol filling station projects, in particular, provides him the
expertise to oversee this portion of MBH’s work stream from day to day.
MBH's Associate Director, Gabby George (George-Davis) got married to Les Davis in
September, we wish her and Les many years of love and happiness.
CONTRIBUTE & CELEBRATE
We must give a shout-out to our Star
Student (we seem to “breed” top
students at MBH), Jonny Richardson for
receiving a 1st in 3 subjects on his Building
Surveying Degree.
Bradley Harris joined our MBH
team. Brad joined us on our
Graduate programme and will
be working alongside our retail,
residential and Petrol Filling
Station experts.
Zahra Zare-Kamel joined us and
has attained a BA degree in
Architecture with 2 years working
experience in the residential sector
and joins our West Byfleet team as
a Technician.
Russel Kabade joined our
Quantity Surveying team with a
BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying
and Construction Commercial
Management degree and is also
a Member of the Royal Institute
of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
He has many years’ experience
in the social housing sector and
is looking forward to the
challenge of joining our busy
commercial team.
TOP TALENT
We have added to our top talent that we have here at the firm.
STAFF ENGAGEMENT
Diversity, or lack of diversity, in the
architectural design industry is topic
that receives much debate and
discussion in the media. We
celebrated our diversity by having
our very own International Food Day
in the office... We’re fortunate to
have members of the team from all
around the globe, so we had tastes
of India, Italy, Nigeria and New
Zealand to name just a few… what a
delicious feast!
In March we hosted our own
MBH Bake Off, which encouraged
MBH’s talented designers to create
architectural wonders from biscuits!
Johnny took the honours this year
but was closely chased by Ola. Next
year should be a humdinger of a
contest!
STAFF ENGAGEMENT
Our Spring event was very well received by our staff, the younger members of the team do enjoy giving the more senior staff a run-
around, even if it’s some competitive bowling…
We celebrated the end of a great summer event at RoofEast for some rooftop bowling
Some down-time with your awesome team members is so important – work hard, play hard – with a bit of healthy competition
thrown in!
STAFF ENGAGEMENT
Here’s the winner of the MBH photo contest. Each year, we ask our talented designers and architects to capture
an image at a time when they are feeling particularly inspired. Four of the favourites were selected by the
Waitrose Architecture team and released on Facebook for a final vote to determine the overall winner! This
photo was taken by Sejal Gajjar an Architectural Technician from our office over in Ahmedabad, India. We just
love the striking colours running through this idyllic scene...
