MB Versatility Pro is a personal automation tool that allows Mercedes-Benz drivers to easily create workflows combining actions from their vehicle with third-party services to simplify tasks. It aims to provide a platform for Mercedes owners to program their vehicle to interact with things like weather, directions, home devices without coding experience. The tool is available as a free app with a monthly subscription for creating more than 5 scenarios. It plans to integrate with major online services and home automation to create new experiences for Mercedes drivers.

MB Versatility Pro is your personal automation tool,
enabling you to easily create any combination of car
capabilities (actions) and 3rd party services to create
powerful workflows for your Mercedes-Benz.

3. Pain-Point
While most car manufactures have focused on providing in house software and hardware
that explicitly connects the physical and digital worlds, we focused on simplifying the
process that lets web, mobile apps and home automation products to communicate with
your Mercedes-Benz. Our project’s goal is provide a platform for Mercedes drivers that
will unleash creativity by making it easy for them to create automation tasks using.
Mercedes owners can program with no coding experience their car to interact with
the weather or the time of day, program their car to show directions to the nearest
charging/gas station when the fuel level go below 10%, or even set their Nest
thermostat to react when the car approaches the house. It’s an IoT play that
allows everybody to create.

want to explore over time

6. Technical
overviewWe've used several third party APIs: Google Geofencing API and
Google Places API. We played with Amazon Alexa, NEST and
Philips Hue as well. For device persistence we've used Room
the newly introduced persistence library from Google. Also
we've used RxJava at some parts in our project. The Mercedes
Benz APIs which we've implemented are: Inside temperature,
Outside temperature, Speed, Fuel level, Days to next service
and Kilometers to next service.
We've also used the combination of Geofencing and Google
Places to use it along with the Mercedes Benz vehicles API so
the user can use their device to trigger actions when they enter
a certain geofence.
We plan to integrate with most of the major online services and
home automation devices before we go to market.

Our projects empowers drivers to do more with the services they love.
Our ambitions goal is to work over most major apps, services, and
devices and connect these services to every Mercedes car that can
create new experiences of all types, from automating simple tasks to
transforming how someone interacts with and controls their home.
