Dear Member,
Overleaf you will find our May 2012 schedule for Gateway.
Move: Gateway drop in has moved from Mount Drummond to our new premises in Unit 1, 2 Parker Hill, Rathmines,
Dublin 6.

Courses: There are a number of courses happening in the coming months. Make Meetings Matter is occurring on Friday

18 , 25 of May and the 18 of June from 11.00am to 1.00pm. WRAP is having a taster session on 19 of May followed

by the course dates on Saturday the 9 , 16 ,23 , 30 of June, 7 , 14 , 21 and 28 of July from 1.00pm to 5.00pm. A
Wellbeing Programme is also coming up dates and times to be confirmed. If you are interested in applying for any of
these courses fill out an application form in drop-in.

CDVEC: The CDVEC presents “Because Culture Belongs to Us”. This is an Art exhibition and Cultural event of works by
students in CDVEC AES Community classes in Dublin 2, 4, 6 and 8. It is taking place at The Coach House, Dublin Castle,

from the 8th – 10 of May 2012. The opening hours are 3pm-5pm Tuesday 8 of May from 11am-4.30pm, Wednesday the

9th of May from 11am- 3.30pm and Thursday 10 of May. There are special events on Wednesday 9 of May with a choir
performance at 12.00pm and Drama and Storytelling 1pm-2pm. The event will be opened by Ms. Jacinta Stewart, CEO of

Dublin VEC. If you are interested in attending the opening on the 8 of May Tim the Arts & Crafts tutor has tickets. People

are welcome to come along as they please for the other dates. Members are meeting on Thursday the 10 of May outside
Gateway at 1.15pm to go to the art exhibition or people can make their own way there. There is disabled parking and

or to book a group visit.

Gateway Sub Committee: Gateway is becoming an independent company and the Advisory Committee has formed a
smaller group to help Gateway become more independent. If any member would like to become part of the group please
contact Martha on 01-4965558.

Act the Maggot: Gateway have been offered a free acting workshop from Act the Maggot. This will be held in May. If
anyone is interested you can leave your name in drop in or call Martha on 01-4965558.

Minutes of the Members Meeting of the Gateway Project on the 23 of April 2012
    1 Welcome: Mary Q chaired the meeting and welcomed all members.

    2 Minutes: The minutes of the members meeting from March 12 2012 were read by Martha G. The process of
        Dotmocracy used in the last meeting was explained.
    3 Members Decision: It was decided that drop in will be held in the front room and speakers in the back room to
        allow drop in to continue and those interested in hearing the speaker to do so. We will revisit this in August to
        see how it is going.
    4 May Speaker: Aga from Rathmines Pembroke Community Partnership will come in to talk about literacy, night
        courses etc.
    5 New Premises: Members discussed various ideas for the new premises – no decisions were made as it was an
        ideas meeting. The ideas that came up were heating, pictures for the walls, Muriel’s, improvements to be made
        to the pool table, quiet room/relaxation room, getting a fish there was also a venetian blind suggestion for the
        back room, shelves, recycling bin and the addition of some plants. It was agreed to move the red chair back to
        the room with the computer and to get fluffy blankets for relaxation and meditation.
    6 A.O.B Valerie M gave an overview about an organisation called Trialogue. Trialogue are a group that help and
        support people in the area of mental health, it is made up of people with self experience of ill mental health,
        mental health professionals and family members/carers. They meet on the third Thursday of the month from
        6:30pm- 7.45pm at the F2 Community Centre, Reuben Plaza, Rialto, D8 – just in front of Fatima Luas stop.
        Valerie M will try and get us a poster. There is also a Trialogue that happens in Tallaght on the first Tuesday of
        the month in Tallaght IT. Everyone welcome.

        Andrew D and William C volunteered to look after the library of information.

        Dates to be noted were announced. This included the WRAP course, Assertiveness Taster Course, Make
        Meetings Matter. People were advised to fill forms out if interested.

        A discussion occurred about people taking more responsibility in Gateway. This is to be put in next months
