Yucatan is located in southeastern Mexico and contains the ancient Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza, home to the incredible Kukulcan pyramid. Chichen Itza was built in 525 BC and contains the largest Mayan structures, including the 55 meter wide, 24 meter high pyramids. Kukulcan was a feathered snake god and the pyramid was constructed in his honor. Chichen Itza was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 and remains one of the most visited archaeological sites and wonders of the world today.
