The new Whitney Museum of American Art opens on May 1st in New York City. The Renzo Piano-designed building is located between a new public park, the High Line, and the Hudson River, making it the cultural anchor of downtown NYC. Visitors can see over 21,000 works by around 3,000 artists, ranging from leading 20th century artists to contemporary American works, including pieces by Hopper, Pollock, Warhol, Sherman, O'Keeffe, Lichtenstein, de Kooning, Koons, Avery and Calder.
