REFERENCE - MATTHEW LUCAS
Matt commenced working with West Daly Regional Council on 7th April 2015 in the
role of Sport & Recreation Team Leader. Matt is based in Wadeye, a remote
lndigenous community in the Northern Territory, and is responsible for the delivery of
sport and recreat¡on programs to the community.
Matt's tasks included, but are not limited to the following
o Coordinate and promote objectives for sport & recreational activities.
o Encourage establishment of sports committees in individual communities.
o Monthly plans and report writing within timeframes.
o Coordination and development of cultural events, sports events in community.
o Encourage and incorporate cultural activities with sports and recreation for all
community members.
¡ Develop strategic plans for the delivery of future sports and recreation activities.
o Maintain a safe working environment and ensure Workplace Health & Safety
regulations are adhered to.
¡ Work with community members to promote empowerment and encourage
community ownership for all sports and recreational activities.
Further to the above, Matt is involved in providing coaching and mentoring to our
lndigenous staff. During the time that Matt has been employed by WDRC, he has
shown dedication, determination and hard work. Matt is consistently punctual and has
built an excellent rapport with not only his fellow colleagues, but local Community
members alike.
I would not hesitate to recommend Matt for any position that he applies for. He has
been an asset to the Council during his tenure and will be missed.
