Masks for the Disability Community #Masks4Disability
1. #Masks4Disability
A project of #ShapingDisability
Presented by Tiffany Yu
San Francisco Hub, Formerly New York Hub I
Equity & Inclusion Steering Committee, Disability Inclusion
2. As US cities start to reopen, we understand that the
disability community may need to shelter for longer to
avoid subsequent waves of the virus and not be faced
with discriminatory hospital triage plans and practices
(see http://NoBodyIsDisposable.org for more on this). To
slow the spread of the virus, face coverings are required
in public spaces in many US cities. Because some of our
disability community members may not have access to
local mutual aid networks in their cities, and other mask
distributions needed an in-person pickup, we have
decided to support USPS and ship out masks to disabled
people who need them across the United States.
