Current Duties/Responsibilities
AUG 2015 to Present: Lead Coordinator for the Headquarters Command Board (HCB)
providing direct feedback to Chief of Staff, maintains and establishes timelines for all briefs;
guides/advises presenters, prepares briefs rooms and coordinates all logistical needs ensuring all
briefs flow appropriately. Contracting Officer Representative with a budget (undisclosed).
Coordinates monthly Focus Groups for The Executive Director and is a voting member for the
Quality Committee Meeting Representative.

Former Duty Stations and Duties/Responsibilities
November 2014 to July 2015: Transitioned into the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH)
Adult Behavioral Health (ABH) Clinic as Acting Deputy Chief during this period in order to
provide additional leadership guidance to clinicians, Public Health Officers and military officers.
Additionally, provided Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner support for the clinic in order to enhance
access to care. Performance included, but not limited to assessing and implementing processes
to improve clinic functionality. From a Nurse Practitioner role; continued to assess, diagnose,
prescribe and manage acute and chronic outpatient clients. Psychiatric care in numerous settings
provided: Adult Outpatient, Emergency Department coverage as well as On-Call Behavioral
Health duty and Behavioral Health Consultation Liaison services. Additionally covered as
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Service Chief for the Inpatient Behavioral Unit on “as
needed” bases.

October 2013 to October 2014: Officer in Charge (OIC) at National Intrepid Center of
Excellence, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Clinic, Intrepid Spirit, FBCH (35 staff). Military’s
first satellite Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) clinic. Functioned as Adult Nurse Psychiatric Nurse
Practitioner and Division Officer/OIC, overseeing outpatient care for wounded warriors with TBI
and an array of mental health diagnoses. Increased clinic Joint Commission Readiness through
updating clinic procedures and ensuring staff accountability and readiness were in line with
mission goals. Collaborated with treatment team to ensure that there was an Interdisciplinary
approach for patient treatment plans. Provided additional support as a Psychiatric Nurse
Practitioner for Co-occurring Partial Hospitalization Program in collaboration with
multidisciplinary treatment team. Common diagnoses (for TBI and Co-Occurring clinics)
included Mood Disorders (anxiety, depression, panic), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,
Traumatic Brain Injury, Psychotic Disorders and Substance Abuse/Dependence.
May 2011-September 2013: Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit (IBHU) Officer in Charge,
FBCH, Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Spearheaded the opening of the new IBHU, FBCH. Coordinated
with two National Capital Area (NCA) Medical Center's overseeing transfer and orientation of
26 personnel to FBCH in support of psychiatric services in the NCA, built FBCH IBHU and
Walter Reed psychiatric nurse and tech competencies, updated medication administration
programs, enhanced shift specific orientation processes for nurses and psychiatric technicians,
collaborated on inpatient psychiatric Standard Operational Procedures, provided input for
ordering psychiatric safe furniture, and assisted with the review and approval of multiple
electronic medical record notes. As the Clinical Nurse Officer in Charge for the IBHU,
supervised all aspects of safe quality nursing care for an average of 27 admissions per month and
daily census of nine patients.
Completed in-services for100% of IBHU staff covering areas of inpatient specific suicide
prevention, medication administration, DSM-IV TR diagnostic criteria and basic mental-health
exams. Ensured completion of 26 inpatient psychiatric competencies and orientation for initial
opening of hospital. Identified and mitigated 15 patient safety discrepancies on a newly
constructed unit and facilitated 100% resolution. Obtained credentials as an adult psychiatric
nurse practitioner. Attended a three day department head course, enhancing both clinical
administrative skills.
Lead Officer for Controlled Substance Inventory Board; heading team of eight for inventory of
over 50 pharmaceutical areas including investigation of 70 controlled medication encounters.
Successfully completed Joint Commission Survey with the zero direct patient care findings. Lead
investigator on a root cause analysis. As member of the Essentris Working Group (Electronic
Inpatient Charting), revamped and/or established 15 electronic medical record notes eliminate
charting redundancies increased patient safety and employee charting satisfaction.

Consulted on the opening of the only NCA Addictions Unit; first unit of its kind in the NCA.
Provided RN staffing and support to open unit, decreased network deferments, saved command
$20,000 per patient. Consulted with Fort Carson Medical Center; advised them on SOPs,
competencies, restraint instructions.
June 2007-May 2011: Behavioral Health, Staff Nurse/Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), and In-
Patient Department Head. Supervised staff-members for the Flag Ship of Navy Medicine.
Walter Reed/NNMC Behavioral Health Integration Team Member. Later took on role as
Inpatient Behavioral Health Department Head. Additionally supported staff nurse role providing
high quality patient care and thorough staff education. Primary collateral duty involved
psychiatric Base Realignment (BRAC) Integration Officer; collaborated to map all Behavioral
Health Nursing Staff to North and South Campuses and oversaw construction needs from a 12 to
28 bed unit.

Health/Medical-Surgical. Individual Augmentee Deployment.
-Jan 2008 to July 2008: Clinical Nurse Specialist/Division Officer. Oversaw behavioral
health needs of Joint Task force personnel at a forwarded deployed Combat Stress Center during
Surge. Completed over 500 intakes and/or therapy sessions.
August 2005-May 2007: University of Kentucky Duty Under Instruction Student.
June 2002-May 2005: Medical-Surgical Nurse, Pediatric outpatient staff nurse and ADHD Case
Manager. Provided operational medical support to the Seventh Fleet; catchment area for
Yokosuka, Japan, Korea and Diego Garcia and Operation Enduring Freedom. Provided nursing
care for active duty, dependent and retirees. Mental-health accomplishments included increasing
patient safety by incorporating revisions of SOP and revision of psychiatric policies in
Yokosuka, Japan. Collateral duties: Restraint Liaison, educational, safety officer, scheduling
officer, pharmacy and therapeutics committee and BLS Instructor. Obtained certifications in
ACLS, PALS and TNCC.
November 1999-May 2002: Staff Nurse for In-Patient Behavioral Health and the Multi-Service
Unit, Great Lakes Naval Hospital, Great Lakes, IL. Provided psychiatric care to primarily active
duty personnel and medical-surgical care to patients who had a range of mental-health and

April 1997-October 1997: PRN Behavioral Health Charge Nurse. Charter Ridge Hospital

February 1996- November 1998: Navy Reserve Hospital Corpsman. Naval Reserve Center,

Japan. Duties included: responsible for over 200 sailors’ health and well-being. Completed daily

and Assistant Physical Readiness Coordinator. Separated with an honorable discharge in March
1993.
July 1988-March 1991: Hospital Corpsman: Third Marine Division Marine Division. Provided
care often independent of a medical officer or nursing staff. Duties included: medical diagnoses
and various treatments, emergency medical care, preventive medicine, educating Marine and
Navy members in areas of preventive medicine and first-aid. Additional duties included
occupational health and psychological counseling for service members.
